Smile Chicken Hearts

I recently was introduced by a co-worker to Chicken Hearts. He gets them at a local chicken wholesaler. Anyways he just boils them, freezes them and every once and a while will nuke a few of them salt them and they are quite delicious. Anyone else had these things and are they a good source of protein ? I got a few from him recently and have sautéed them over rice and added various spices etc for taste experiences. All in all I like them so far.

Sometimes they come in the packets of organs inside a roasting hen. They are muscles, so I can't see why they wouldn't be just fine and good sources of protein.

I googled, and found that there are about 9 calories per heart and just shy of 1 gram of protein per heart, so there you go!

I love chicken hearts, they are some what chewy, but then I also like the gizzards too.

They taste like chicken but have the feel in your mouth of liver. But they are when done right pretty good tasting. He buys these things in 5 kg bags from the chicken farm wholesale for about 10 bucks.

I like them and anything I like that has that much protein in them without milk and having to mix it get the thumbs up. I'll be making chili this weekend so I am going ot throw them into the mix.

Default gizzards

Oh my, how I love a good fried gizzard. I remember back in the early 1990's when KFC had gizzards on the menu! I can't imagine being able to eat gizzards now, especially fried the way I like them...... but the memories sure are good.
