Default Pork Rinds

In my quest to find a good source of protein until my nectar gets here, I've stumbled upon pork rinds.

This is the nutrition information for a 45g bag.

Cals: 252
Protein: 33g
Carbs: 0g
Fat: 14g

Crunchy, delicious, calorie to protein ratio is GREAT, and the salt is mild but enough to help with my extreme nausea which I'm assuming is from the pain pill detox.

Any reason I shouldn't eat this? The calorie/protein ratio is soo good! It looks like a godsend to me. Thoughts?

That was the company name. The product is called Knabbel Bacon Smoky.

Most food I eat I try to get a 10:1 calorie/protein ratio. I will even do up to 15:1 (example 150 calorie product has 10 grams of protein) if I have to... but these are 7:1!!! That's crazy! Almost as good as chicken breast which I can only eat about 1 oz of before I feel uncomfortable. So as far as trying to get protein in, these pork rinds are so much easier. At our store they are in the meat section tho, not the chips section so ours might be way different from ones in America. I really don't know.

Hi Josephine, thanks for the ratio information. What a good way to figure out balance in food. I'll remember that when I'm shopping now.
Chicken makes me feel uncomfortable as well, so I am always looking for another proteing source - other than my old standby protein shakes. Take care!

They are a bit high in fat and calories, but we don't eat much anyway, so I say, go for it. I used to eat them all the time when I did Atkins several years ago. Loved to dip them in my homemade blue cheese dip. Yum.

By the way, Dez, I'm glad to hear that you're doing better and on the mend.

Mmmmm...chicharrones! I haven't had them in a while, but used to love them on corn tortillas with guacamole. I wouldn't do the corn tortilla now, but dipped in guacamole should be good. Now I want some!
