Arrow liquid multi-vitamin w/ 100% daily iron??

Hi all,

Well, the big day is tomorrow. All set except for I still have to chase down my mulit...I wanted a liquid for a least first month but Dr says multi-vitamin should have 100% of daily iron (18 mg I think...I don't have paperwork in front of me)...well after two stores worth of label reading, I'm stumped.

Before I call Dr for recommendation, anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

JK

You're probably gonna have a hard time finding a liquid multi that contains that much iron. I think the main reason is because liquid iron tastes really bad. So they don't want to put it in a liquid multi because then the multi would taste really bad. But also, most multis contain calcium. Calcium interferes with the absorption of iron. So even if the multi did contain that much iron, you might not absorb it anyway. It's probably better to take a separate iron supplement and to take it at a separate time than when you take your multi. Iron should be taken at least two hours apart from any calcium.

You could get a chewable multi, chewable calcium and chewable iron that is made for bariatric patients.

My absolute favorite for flavor and customer service is sold here:

Bariatric Vitamins | Celebrate Bariatric Supplements | Bariatric Surgery & Nutrition

You can also get some from here:

www.bariatricadvantage.com

Though.. I don't care for theirs as much- they taste more gritty and a bit 'off' for me.. though it's a personal thing.

I had real trouble looking for chewable multi vitamins and minerals. I finally found ones made by Centrum, although only from the States. These aren't even on the Centrum website. They are very reasonably priced with postage. Here is the link.

Jane,

Centrum Multivitamins came up a couple of days ago. Stacie (FatButNotHappy) asked about them.

Here's the link to her question and my reply: Vitamin Question, probably a repeat
