Default Low Carb Protein Bar?

Does anyone know of a good low carb protein bar? I keep looking but everyone I find has more carbs then I want to take in. Lisa

My favorite are the Pure Protein ones they sell at Walmart. I don't know what the carb content is, but the sugar content is only a couple of grams. They sit really well for me.

I don't use protein bars (too sweet and If it looks like a candy bar and it quacks like a candy bar - it's a candy bar and I could so easily undo all the good that this surgery brought me if I had those things in the house). But a lot of my WLS friends use the Atkins bars.

Vitacost has a good range although you might be able to get them cheaper elsewhere.

Day Break® Crisp Bar Peanut Butter Fudge Crisp, 14g carbs.
Day Break® Cranberry Almond Bar, 16g carbs.
Day Break® Cinnamon Bun Bar, 18g carbs.
Sweet & Salty Almond Crunch, 15g carbs.

Plenty of others to choose from: atkins bars - Vitacost

Vitalady's protein bars get rave reviews too - Vitalady.com - Protein Supplements, Vitamins & Minerals and Safe Snacks!

I did try the SmartForme Proti Wafers - Proti Squares - Bari-15 once.

Melting Mama reviewed them and she gave them a big thumbs up (200-210 cals per 2 wafers, 13g carbs, 5-6g sugars, 15g protein: Proti Wafers - Proti Squares - Bari-15 Like a sugar wafer, only better!

Available at: https://www.smartforme.net/store/car...ct_detail&p=21

I bought a box of each flavour and there wasn't one I wouldn't recommend.

However - I managed to eat 3 whole packets within half an hour and I would probably have gone back for more if DH hadn't jumped in with an "intervention" . They are absolutely gorgeous but they are not for me.

Thanks for answering. I don't know if it's possible to find a protein bar with less then 10 grams of carbs. I won't eat one that has 15grams of carbs. I know what you mean Corrinne about them looking like a candy bar. I love the Kashi go lean crunch cereal but it has so many carbs. I think I would like it even if it didn't taste so sweet. Why can't they make some of these things not so sweet and more healthier? Lisa

Lisa - I would reach for a Kashi granola bar over a "protein" bar any day.

The Granola ones (Crunchy Pumpkin Spice Flax are yum) would be my choice. 140-180 cals and the carbs aren't bad guys - they'll keep you fuller longer. And 6g of protein isn't too low. Nothing that adding a Frigo part-skim mozz stick wouldn't sort out.

But a good alternative would be Dry Roasted Edamame.

It's my standby (never leave home without it) is (Seapoint Farms, Lightly salted or wasabi).

I have 1/4 cup baggies in my bag, at work, and in the car. They are my absolute favourite nibble and they have good crunch factor.

130 cals
4g total fat
...0.5g saturated fat
10g total carbs
..8g dietary fiber
..1g sugars
14g protein
