Default Vitamins: Chewable to Tablet Form How soon?

Hey Everyone

I am 5 weeks post-op and will be 6 weeks post-op on Thursday. Quite frankly I am sick and tired of the chewable Celebrate Vitamins and I want to move on to their tablet form. How soon can I do this? Is it too soon to do so now? Thanks in advance.

I was given the go ahead to take tablets (cut in half if large) and capsules from 6 weeks out (although I was taking Colace gelcaps and Prilosec capsules from the day after surgery).

Talk with your doc/NUT about it first although there's no reason why you can't use Celebrate's multivitamin capsules now. Pull them apart and empty the contents into your yogurt or shake etc.

Celebrate also do ENS Multivitamin & Calcium Drink Mix (Grape). I don't like anything grape and they're pretty pricey but they might get you over this hurdle. Bariatric Vitamins | Gastric Bypass Vitamins | Celebrate Bariatric Vitamins

Well, I was able to swallow small pills the same day I had surgery. But my doctor told me I should always take chewable vitamins because they would be absorbed better. I'm not sure how accurate that is, though. I would say talk to your doctor.

If you can't do the capsules right now, you might want to try the ENS. I use it and like it, although it is pretty costly.

I was also told to always use the chewable vitamins due to the better absorption. I also use a liquid B complex. I know it doesn't taste very good, but I'd rather have a moment of yuckiness to make sure I'm getting everything my body needs. I do take other things in pill / capsule form, but I was 3 or 4 months out before I got the ok for that.

Good luck on your journey & welcome to the losers bench

Ladies thank you. I will definitely check with him first but it is nice to know there is a possibility that the chewing could be a thing of the past. Those chewable calcium tabs are giving me the heeby jeebies everytime I have to chew them. When I crunch I get shivers down my spine. Thanks again for the input!

Another alternative to chewable calcium is Upcal D. I use it. It's a powder that you can put in any drink. It has no taste at all.
