Default Mixing up the ENS

So I use ENS from Celebrate. And it's good, it tastes just like grape Koolaid to me. But I drink two a day every day and I am bored silly with it. So I decided to mix it with something other than plain water.

Today I mixed it with a single-serving packet of Ocean Spray cranberry drink mix. Which is sugar free. It tastes like cran-grape juice. Very zippy. I like it.

Here's the Link to Celebrate regarding ENS...I got some of this for the first two weeks post-op to make taking my vitamins a bit easier.

Essential Nutrient System - ENS

Created for surgical weight loss patients, our Celebrate ENS (Essential Nutrient System) provides a full compliment of vitamins and minerals, plus 500 mg of calcium in each stick pack. Our integrated formula provides maximum solubility and ensures that the vitamins and minerals are readily bioavailable. This product is the best option for patients immediately following surgery.

* The vitamin and mineral content of each pack is equal to taking one chewable multivitamin plus 500 mg of calcium.
* The calcium that we have chosen is calcium lactate-gluconate, which is a highly absorbable form of calcium with excellent solubility properties.
* Due to the nature of the formulation, this product is appropriate for any surgical weight loss procedure. As with any of our other delivery systems, you may need additional supplementation based on surgery type.
* It is recommended to be blended with 8-16 oz of water, shaken, and consumed but can be mixed with as much or as little water as you want.
* Each pack also contains 4 g of soluble fiber, added electrolytes and a 500 mg antioxidant blend made with natural berries including acai berry, raspberry, blueberry, goji berry, strawberry and cranberry.
* Like our other products, taste is important and this has a smooth and refreshing grape flavor.

Who would benefit from this product?

1. Early post-operative patients - Since this may be diluted to taste, there are virtually no issues with taste aversion. If you prefer a stronger flavor, use less water or if you prefer a lighter flavor, use more water.
2. Athletes - If you are a surgery patient turned athlete, this can help to flavor that boring water that you need to drink. Water is critical and taking your vitamins and calcium while hydrating makes it easier.
3. Anyone looking for a convenient alternative to pills or chewables.

* This is a non-returnable item.

Thanks, Beth. Wish I had known about this post op. This seems to be a good product for any of us to be aware of.

BTW, good luck with your surgery this week. It's finally here-woo hoo!

I try to be good about my vitamins. I'm certainly not perfect. Some days I miss a dose. Oops. I'm working on it. It's taken me a long time to find the products that work for me.

Beth posted the info on ENS. I like it a lot. I think it tastes like grape Koolaid. I was having a hard time with chewables. They were making me nauseous. The thing about the ENS is that it's expensive. I am spending a small fortune on vitamins these days. But you gotta do what you gotta do, right?

Thanks so much! I'm so anxious!

I agree with Kelly that it is a little expensive but, when you add up everything that is in each one it does kind of justify the expense a little more. Also, I imagine I'll be able to tolerate this easier than a handful of vitamins!

You can get a sample from Celebrate to try as well

It justifies the expense a little since it is a multi plus calcium... but it would still be cheaper to buy a chewable multi and chewable calcium. It's worth it to me because I had such a hard time getting the chewables down. They aren't a bargain if you buy them but then don't take them because you hate them.

Thanks for posting this Kelly.

I love the idea of an occasional alternative to chewable multivits. but I confess, I really hate anything grape flavoured (apart from grapes).

I'll certainly try the crangrape stuff.

Wonder what else would work with grape - Crystal Light lemonade, cranberry apple, cherry pomegranate maybe?

I also got some Wyler's drink mix in "dark berry" flavor. It's with the crystal lite and those types of drinks. It has a mixture of berries, I forget what all exactly. It's good with the grape ENS.

Vic also told me they would be coming out with another flavor of ENS sometime soon, but I don't know when exactly, or what flavor.
