Post STuck and Struggling

I am not getting all my protein shakes but am taking the mushies well. About 4 oz of food at a time I top out at 52 grams of protein a day. My weightloss how ever is very slow I tried the new recipes and still cannot handle protein drinks. I am lost as ever, regretting the op already. It's making me cry sometimes. I still cannot work out due to the pain and my incision wounds have been infected for a week. Does this get easier. How much weight will I lose? I am on the verge of crying all the time.

What different kinds of protein have you tried? Finding the right protein is very individual. Some like it better with milk (me), and some prefer water. Some mix fruits or yogurt into it, others don't. You have to find the protein powder that works for you first.

It will be worth it! Focus on yourself and following the sugeon's instructions. Take your time, and try to not to stress too much. As the pain goes away and more of a "normal" feeling comes back, exercise will get much easier. Have you talked to your surgeon about your concerns with the pain and infection?

Yes, it will get easier. No one can really tell you how much weight you will lose. Statistically, people lose between 60 and 80% of their excess weight with RNY. But some lose even more than that.

Getting enough protein will help your incisions heal. It will also help you lose weight. Your weight may be slower than average if you don't get enough protein.

Have you tried adding unflavored protein powder to your mushy foods, if you can't tolerate the protein shakes?

Kelly

Just an FYI: Hell Week can last longer than 1 week!!!

What you are feeling is probably pretty dang normal. I didn't really have any problems with my protein or fluids consumption...but there was a point in time that food was really just a pain in the arse! But it really does get easier...now at almost 2 years post op I've adjusted to my new life-style and am loving it!!!

Give it time...it gets better!
