Smile Calcium Citrate

Hi all,

In the UK its hard to find decent protein powders etc: especially calcium citrate except on the NET.
I'm in California in the next two weeks and wondered if you had any advice of where I could purchase Citrate over the counter so I can stock up?
I've heard people talk of Citracel from Walmart is this any good? or are there better places or brands for over the counter?
Thanks in advance.

Mark.

Citracel is fine, just make sure you're taking about 1500-2000mg a day.

Thanks I'm fine on the amount I take it's just finding it over here, if I order from the States the shipping makes it not fisable finacially, so I want to try and bulk buy whilst in California. We have walmart over here it's called Asda but they only sell carbonate no Citracel.

Yeah I get my calcium citrate from celebratevitamins.com
Orders over $100 have free shipping but it doesn't count for us.
Only makes sense to get EVERYTHING from them and order 6 months at a time, then that shipping is worth it.

If I were you'd I'd bulk up on cool stuff from celebrate and get the free shipping while you're in cali

They have cherry sublingual b12, grape iron, orange vitamins, chocolate calcium.. all go down easy and chewables

Mark,

Ask in Boots. Print out a list of the commonly available brands over the internet and ask if they can order you some. You might have to take a box but that'll be cheaper in the long run.

And it's also worth asking one of your local independent chemists. They tend not to be tied to a specific supplier.

Corrine I've trid the independant chemists with no luck they all use carbonate suppliers have asked at my local Boots no luck will try e-mailing head office but I would think they would want a substanal order to make it worthwhile, but you never know. I thought I would take advantage of my trip to fill up on products we over here seem to be in short supply of.

Thanks Mark.

Try posting about this on the UK forum too - someone might be able to help.

And another suggestion - keep your receipt available for when you go through customs. We know they're calcium citrate tabs but customs people have a job to do and they'll be suspicious of 2 suitcases full of little white tablets!

Actually, that's something you might want to check into beforehand.

I don't believe there's a problem with taking supplements into the UK but you never know and there may be a restriction on quantity.

Good point Corrine. I know there's limits on bringing protein powder back with you cause it's got milk in it. You can only bring 1kg back I believe So if ya wanted to stock up on that one too, better put it in your carryon and hope they don't grab ya to search you.

Corrine, I thought of that and there doesn't appear to be a limit as they are not prescribed or controlled medicenes but as you say little white pills !! It says to keep them in their original sealed packets and I would keep the reciept any way as proof of purchase. Am i right in thinking the Citracel comes in a dosage of 2 tabs + 400mg so I would need to take @ 8 aday to get in my dose are there any other suppliers that do a larger dose say 500/600mg at a time that I could go for?

Thanks Mark.

Josephine, I know what you mean about milk products etc: I am now at a stage (9 months out) where I get most of my protein from food and protein powders are availiable over the counter here, so I'm mainly just looking for the calcium that I find hard to obtain. What are supplies like in the Netherlands as I see you order yours from Celebrate?

Thanks Mark.
