Question My NUTS on vaca

I was told last week that I can start adding cooked veggies to my diet this weekend. Since I'm not a fan of cooked veggies with the exception of a few things I'm not sure how to cook veggies. Normally the only things I cook (and really it's just a quick heat in some olive oil and garlic) are peas, corn, asparagus, and artichokes. Everything else I eat raw. How cooked is cooked for veggies? I hate cooked veggies at restraurants coz they usually have no flavor and noooo texture. Any ideas? Should I stay away from the asparragas for now? What about avacadoes?

I'm so confused but, what else is new?

They probably need to be pretty soft. Like canned veggies are soft, I would think. That's what I started on when I started eating veggies after my surgery.

What about steamed veggies, Kelly? I love the stuff you buy in the steam-bags...throw em in the microwave for a few mins and then it's steamed goodness, but I don't know if it is appropriate for post-surgery

Yeah, steamed veggies should be fine. You just want them kind of soft right after surgery, is all. I was just lazy after my surgery and ate veggies out of a can.

I'll give the canned a go. I know before surgery I could not eat canned veggies as they were so mushy but, who knows now. I'm such a dork that I am actually excited about having ice burg lettuce and tomatoes this weekend.

I wasn't allowed to have salad or raw veggies until the 3 month mark.

Avocado is great but in small amounts. There's about 160 calories and 15g of fat in half of one - the fat can have you hitting the bathroom so go slowly with it at first.

I started with well cooked asparagus, brocolli and carrots.

Me neither. And I really craved it, too.

The only vegetable I absolutely LOVE (is it a veggie or fruit?!!?) are fresh tomatoes you can only get once a year...I like corn, but from what I read, it's not good for you after surgery...

I eat corn occasionally and I don't have any problem with it. I don't eat it too often because I try to avoid the starchy veggies like corn and potatoes because of the carbs. But I have had it four or five times this summer.
