GNC recommendations in San Diego???
In my support group, someone mentioned that they have an awesome GNC that lets them sample shake products so you don't have to buy a huge tub of something that ends of tasting gross.
Can't for the life of me remember which one he recommended, and I've been to two that made me want to scream the sales people were so unhelpful and kept pushing all kinds of product at me.
Anyone in San Diego have a great GNC they go to???

Not in San Diego so I can't help you with that question, but I have been told that GNC will let you return any protein powder that you don't like. Just keep your receipt. Also, did you know you can order samples of lots of different protein powders cheaply at Vitalady.com - Protein Supplements, Vitamins & Minerals, and Safe Snacks!

I haven't been to any that actually let you sample it there, but I know they offer a lot of sample size packets (for sale) that allow you to try it without buying the big tub. They do allow returns as Kelly mentioned. I believe it has to be within 30 days, though. Henry's has a similar policy with the 30 day return, so I might be getting the two confused...
If you find one that gives out samples, let us know!!!

Thanks ... I was looking at ordering some of those. However, there is a local GNC that is bariatric friendly and they will whip up a little taste of a shake for you or give you a scoop to try at home.
I've spent way to much on protein powders here of late. I'd MUCH rather check out the freebie samples first before forking $2 a packet plus shipping (though the Maple Butterscotch Fudge shake sounds like it would be AWESOME as an ice cream!).

Maple Butterscotch Fudge does sound like it would make a good ice cream! Who makes that flavor protein powder? I might have to get some. Do you make protein ice cream?

Haven't found one with sample packets either. Just the big ol' $70 barrels. Grrrr.
I'll have to check out that Henry's return policy ... would have saved me some $$$ as I've gotten a couple of HORRID powders.
Our nutrition support group through Dr. Mueller/Sharp Memorial is having a protein shake sample night on 9/21 ... there are other Dr. Callery patients who attend. If you're interested. (I'm out of everything but vanilla, so was hoping I wouldn't have to wait until then to try a few out).

I'm not sure who makes it, but when I hit the quick link for all protein samples it was the first one on the list.
I posted a little earlier this evening in the July Staplers about new found love for protein ice cream! I thought you had responded to my post (ooops if I got mixed up). LOVE it, and can't wait to try out chocolate peanut butter tomorrow!!

Oops, I did respond to your post about protein ice cream! I'm the one who was mixed up. Sorry! I'm on pain meds right now, that's my excuse. Ha.
I'd love to go to a protein shake sample night. That's a great idea. Unfortunately, I'm not in California. Too far to drive from Ohio!
Lean Dessert Protein makes a banana cream pudding flavor that makes good ice cream. To make it as a shake, you just mix the powder with water, but for ice cream I mix it with skim milk. I think it would be awesome with sugar free chocolate chips and walnuts. Would taste a lot like Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey ice cream.

Save yourself a fortune by buying a tub of quality vanilla protein powder and then ringing the change with DaVinci or similar sugar free syrups.
My Walmart stocks some of them - great in vanilla protein shakes, even yummier in FAGE or like yogurt. Butter Rum, Kahula, English Toffee are a few of my latest cravings but I've pretty much gone through the whole list.
DaVinci Sugar Free Syrups
My DH has acquired a taste for Cary's sugar free maple syrup (dumb a$$ doesn't even know it's sugar free! ). Apart from having it on pancakes, he now likes it on yogurt - something he's never eaten before.

Kelly - quick question - do you need an icecream maker when using Lean Dessert?
