Is this protein shake ok??
Can someone with more knowledge than me tell me if this protein mix is acceptable?
GNC Pro Performance® AMP Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60™ - Chocolate - GNC PRO PERFORMANCE - GNC
I bought some tonight to try because the GNC guy says he uses it and it is the only one he likes. I have tried 5 different kinds and they all make me gag but this one is ok, no smell, funky after taste, or sliminess. Oh, and I only did one scoop, not 3 like they say on the nutrition info.
Thanks!

IT says protein isolate which is the best for us, but the hydrolized protein isnt the best for us, but isolate is first on the list so it does have more of this type protein. Did you really like it? I might try some too, 60 grams per serving is good.

Do you know if the 2nd one is bad or just not well absorbed after RNY? I wonder if there is a way to tell how much of that protein per serving is the isolate?
Yeah, I liked it I wouldn't say it was some fabulous dessert or anything but after trying Muscle Milk (light and regular), Costco brand, Inspire (2 flavors), Syntrax Nectar, I was just going for anything that wasn't going to make me throw up or end up in the bathroom I did one scoop with 2oz of milk and 2 oz of water with half a banana and some ice in a blender and it was good!

Wow, that's a lot of calories! Although I guess it's not so bad if you only use one scoop instead of three.
It's my understanding that the hydrolized protein just isn't well absorbed. It don't think it's actually bad for you, it's just not good for you. So you won't actually be getting 60 grams of protein from one shake (if you use all three scoops). I don't know how to figure out how much you actually will be getting, though. By the way, I'm pretty sure the body can't even absorb 60 grams of protein all at one time, so even if you do use all three scoops in one shake, I don't think you'll be really getting 60 grams. So just keep these things in mind.
If you can't tolerate any other brand, then this is probably better than nothing. But it's not ideal.
Have you tried Chike? I've never tried it myself, but I know a lot of TT members love it. Also, you might want to try Lean Dessert Protein. They have a great chocolate and a great banana. You can buy samples of that at vitalady.com. I don't know if vitalady carries Chike samples or not.

Add sugar free syrups to your protein drink(s)...it TOTALLY changes the flavor! I personally find the DaVinci brand bitter...so I pick up the generic version at Target...DELISH!

I called GNC the other day and asked if i bought a tub of a protein shake and it was gawd aweful nasty could i return it. He said, YUP! they dont ask questions, they want you to stay and try. So if you may want to try others eventually, at least at GNC you can return it and they wont say anything about it

Wow, really?! Even if it's a giant 40 dollar tub? What do they do with the opened product if someone returns one? I was thinking of trying their brand protein shakes but was sorta hesitant since it's kind of on the pricey side. However, i tried two samples (out of a bunch i ordered) from Vitalady and both were absolutely delicious. One i tried was vanilla-cinnamon flavored and the other was chocolate-mint. The vanilla-cinnamon reminded me of the holidays and the chocolate-mint was just a lil hint of mint and choco flavor...i made both with the blender...added 6 ounces of skim milk and 3 ice cubes and blended....i was surprised with the results. I do realize that tastes do (or may) change after surgery...i'm just hoping i'll be able to tolerate it after!
