Default Vitamins- do you take pills or chewables?

I am 6 weeks out and need to get more vitamins and although my program binder says I can tolerate pills by now, I just wanted to check in to see if that was also your experiences as well? The sweetness of the chewables is making me gag.

Until recently, I've used chewables. But I take a couple other prescription medications, and those are pills, and I have no problem with them. Lately the chewable vitamins have been upsetting my stomach, so I need to order something different. I had to wait until I got paid, which I just did, so I need to get on top of it and order something. I was thinking about the capsule vitamins from Celebrate, but they also have this new ENS stuff that is a powdered drink mix you mix with water. I got a free sample of it, and it's not bad. Tastes pretty much like grape Koolaid. It is a multi-vitamin plus 500 mg of calcium. So I was thinking of ordering that instead of the capsules.

Kelly let me know if you would like to sell your chewables. That is all I can take at this point and the more I have the better off I will be. Thanks!

Ms.Ready, you're welcome to have them for free, if you'll just pay for the shipping. I have about 1/2 a bottle of mandarin orange multivitamins and about 1/2 a bottle of strawberries n cream calcium. They're Celebrate. I'm not sure what it will cost to mail them but it shouldn't be too much. Just PM me with your address.

I personally can not stand chewables..... so now I take pills and liquid. I do a shot of liquid in the mornings and in the afternoon I take a womans ultra mega and cut it in half. I cut anything larger than a tic-tac in half. I am not going to take a chance in getting a pill stuck. No way, no thanx. It take like 2 extra seconds to cut the pill.

For calcium I would either do a powder or again cut the pills.....

My doctor allows pills as long as they are smaller than the size of a pencil eraser (and this is FOR LIFE)

That said, I just do not remember to take my pills if I have to take them with liquids.. so I stick with the chewables as much as possible. Otherwise, I find the liquid necessary to get the pills down fill me up too much and make me feel sick to my stomach. Plus, I can grab the chewables, put them in a little carrier thing and pop them throughout the day so I never have an excuse not to take them.

Default Vitamins & Insurance...silly comment and/or question

Hi all -

Now Post Op, I'm required to take all these various vitamins or your health can be at risk is the lecture I got from my NUT, which I believe.

Now, if it's required .... is insurance suppose to cover any of this?

I'm sure it's better for some people, exchanging diabetes shots for a vitamin, healthier weight, etc.

I have a call in from Thursday for a month B-12 shot, just curious how that will be handled, prescription required?, how will it be billed, what is covered, etc.

Has anyone experienced with this?

I'm probably all wet, so I'm assuming everything is out of pocket, but it would be nice if it impacted the annual deductible and/or out of pocket numbers.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Corrine, please post your link to the pertinant information on this!

Your doctor may be 'fine' with that, but YOU shouldn't be! Your doctor is not the one that will suffer the consequences of long term deficiencies. Check out the recent posts from Phoenixfire, for more information on what can happen when you don't get the right amount of the vitamins we need!
