Fruit......
When were you allowed to eat fruit post-op? My doctor told me at least a year. I really miss my peaches, blueberries, watermelon and grapefruit. But I love seeing the scales move again!

a year? oO
I was cleared for everything at the 3 month mark (with the warnings that some things will be more difficult to eat than others, some foods may cause dumping, etc, etc).
I eat apples, peaches, pinapple, and watermelon all the time (though I peel and usually saute apples a bit to soften them up). blueberries and grapes haven't sat super well with me because of the skin.

That is about when I was released to eat whatever too. His sample menu had some fruit and breads/starches on it. So that is what I went by. When he told me at least a year for those items I told him he had a huge typo then But I hit a stall and could not lose and he changed my diet and told me to go to 3 small meals a day and if I was exceptionally hungry I could have a protein shake for a snack. NO fruit, carbs (good or bad) and no starches. I started back losing instantly!

I was given the green light about 3-4 weeks out with the warning to watch my sugar intake and to avoid grapes,ect... i could have them but need to peel them first.

I was allowed raw fruits and vegetables at three months. I could have applesauce almost right away, though.

I just started eating raw fruit at 3 months out. Watermelon and cantaloupe are my favorites, so far. Even though I was allergic to mango prior to wls, I ate some last week and didn't have a reaction. I don't know if the surgery has anything to do with that or if my allergy subsided before surgery. I hadn't eaten mango for almost three years. But, it was yummy!

Wow! Well, being that I stopped eating them and started back losing.....I think I will continue to not eat them at least until I hit my goal weigh.....which is about another 30ish lbs. I might try watermelon....its really nothing more than water anyway. I also found this article on watermelon seeds. I think I will start roasting the seeds for sure!

Watermelon seeds are excellent sources of protein (both essential and non-essential amino acids) and oil. Watermelon seed is about 35% protein, 50% oil, and 5% dietary fiber. Watermelon seed is also rich in micro- and macro-nutrients such as magnesium, calcium, potassium, iron, phosphorous, zinc etc.

fruit
well Ive been eating some fruits since about the two month time zone...I started with pureed baby fruits lol cause I couldnt go without my fruits....graduated to bananas and blueberries....I can eat small amounts without dumping but strawberries cause some dumping and also peaches otherwise applesauces with mango etc mixed in works well..... love the fruits...been trying to get more veggies in but thats a work in progress cause it takes up too much room in the pouch thats reserved for my protein!!!

I love pink grapefruit! I asked my doctor could that be an exception and he said well....I would be careful with the grapefruit because there was a study published (last year of last month..can't remember) showing that grapefruit increases the risk of breast cancer He must feel confident in the study to advize me against it I guess.
