Question beef sits like lead....

whenever I try beef in any form (blenderized w/ potato, in beefaroni) it sits like lead in my pouch after about a thumbnail's worth. Uggh! Chicken is near as bad. The only protein-type 'food' I tolerate well is salmon or tuna or crab.....all blenderized with something. Protein drinks (esp Perfect Start) are also easy on the pouch.....

Sound normal?

Colleen,

I am not sure about what your doctor told you. But our handbook says no beef until 3-4 even 6 months out.

When you do eat it, which should not be now. You have to cut it up in extra small pieces and chew it more than anything else.

I am one of the lucky ones who can eat beef. Steak is my friend. But not everyone can handle eating beef.

Yep, Just like Barb says!!

I can eat beef also, but it must be chewed up really well and quite moist and tender like all other types of meat. (still have trouble w/ chicken)

You are only 4 weeks out, I think I was still on mashed beans at that point.

Do be careful, I recently had meat get stuck and had to vomit. My own fault for eating too fast, but I am over 6 months out. You are really a newbie. Also, does'nt beef aroni have pasta? I do not eat pasta. Empty calories and too filling.

Leave room for the good stuff. Protien, veggies and fruit!!!

Good Luck!!

I had that problem at first but it has past. Small bits and chew, chew, chew. Also, I would leave out the potato (They sit like lead in my pouch) and no pasta either it'll feel like you have ate a bowling ball.

Thanks, Ladies!

I appreciate the feedback. I feel like my nutritional resources here are not the greatest..... I will be going to a bariatric support group, (first since my surg) on Tues., and hope to get more diet info.

I really appreciate all the effort you do to support everyone. This forum feels really comfortable. Thanks again!

Colleen

Remeber to marinate whatever meat you cook. This helps make it more tender and will melt in your mouth. I started with shredded beef cooked in the crockpot with a marinade that included Merlot. It melted in my mouth. I am 19 months out and still cannot eat porkloin. I can eat ham, bacon and sausage but I cannot stomach porkloin, shredded pork or even pork chops. Chicken is best baked in the oven skinless marinated overnight and at a degree between 375-400 for no more than 30 minutes. this strips should be baked at 375 for 25 minutes.
I hope this helps.
