I am in love with my "set it and forget it" oven
Ok, I have to admit I have found a new life saver in regards to preparing healthy meals. We bought one of the rotisseries about a month ago, and I got total grief from my guy, he thought I would never use it just like the crock pot we bought a while ago! (it's still at the bottom of a closet somewhere) I love this thing, it has made life so much easier. It is really easy to use. I have cooked everything from vegatables to steaks and last night boneless ribs in it.
The thing I love is that I don't have to use any oil to cook the meat. It roasts everything so a lot of the natural fat in the food just drips off. I thought the clean up would be really difficult but it's not.
I know we're always trying to find new healthy ways of preparing things and just thought I would share. I cook for both of us (and my nephew who's here for the summer) and it makes family meals so much easier.
As well as with the summer months it doesn't heat up my whole house like when I try to cook in the oven!
We found ours at of all places at the OC Swap Meet, but I think you can find them online without watching their infomercial.

I have been wanting one of those for awhile now and I was afraid it was to good to be true. Thanks for the info! My daughter loves the rotisserie chicken from the grocery store but there $8.00 a piece and my hubby could eat a whole one so I need 2. The cute thing is when she was little she always asked if we could get a rotary chicken. That kid cracks me up. I'll be setting it and forgetting it for sure now! Thanks!

Ohhhhhhhhhh you..... curiosity killed the cat! LOL You put the cake, or bread, or whatever batter in a large greased coffeecan! You put water in the actual crockpot! I usually start mine at about 1 in the afternoon, and by dinner time..... moist supple bread or cake! I have tons of tried and true actual recipes if you actually ever want to give it a go! I LOVE to cook, and decorate and all that domestic type stuff! I have nothing else to do with my time except try new wacky things! My next thing is mint. Did you know flies hate mint? Apparently if you tie fresh sprigs around open doors, or place them on the sides of your dinner plate, flies won't come near it. That's what I am going to do today... make mint garland..... I need therapy.

Robin,
Yes I woul like to get a recipe or two for this project.
So how goes the anti fly house today. Do you have garland over every door and window. If you attach some garlic to the garland then you can be protected from vampires as well. LOL.....

Set it and forget it!
Amber,
The rotisserie chicken is awesome in the little oven. I was amazed at just how much oil comes from one chicken. The oven really does the trick! I love it and it tastes great. Nice thing is that I can have it cooked and ready waiting for me.
Robin,
I know I should use the crock pot but for some reason I can't seem to find anything I like lately. I need to get a recipe book for the crock pot!
I still can't believe you are able to bake cakes in the crock pot but via your recipe it makes total sense! I might have to try that one next time I feel adventurous!

Ok.... I was trying to think of a recipe I could share with my lovely post-op friends that was a cake for the crockpot. I have heard that you can replace sugar, cup for cup with Splenda, so maybe you all will want to try this. My kids love it, and so does Hubby!
1 cup flour
1 cup Splenda
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
4 chopped apples
2 eggs beaten
2 tsp vanilla
Mix together flour, splenda, baking soda cinnamon and salt. Add the apples, stirring lightly to coat. Combine in a seperate dish the eggs and vanilla. Add to the apples and stir just until moistened. Spoon into a lightly greased crock pot. Cook on high 2-3 hours. Serve with sugar free ice cream, or Frozen Cool Whip Lite.
And one more....
For this recipe, you will need a 2 pound coffee can.
3 very ripe bananas
1/2 cup margarine
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup splenda
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
Combine all ingredients in a bowl, beat for two minutes with an electric mixer. Pour into the well greased coffee can. Place in the slow cooker. Cover the top of the can with 6-8 clean white paper towels. (Don't forget this or you will have banana mush!) Cover crock pot bake on high for 2- 2 1/2 hours. Cool for 15 minutes before removing.
I usually set my alarm for a little early on a sunday morning, put this together, and go back to bed, when we wake up we have warm fresh banana bread and coffee. YUMMY!
