Question B12 Makes Me Dump Severely??

Hi all. I've got a problem that I can't figure out. I know we all have good and bad days, but I seem to be affected (only sometimes) by my daily liquid B12.

The weird thing is, I've eaten a few things that have made me dump... heart palps, break out in a sweat, shortness of breath, etc. I have to lay down for about 10 minutes and I'm okay. But the B12 "dumping" is really freaking me out.

During the past couple of weeks on two separate days, I've taken my liquid B12 in the AM like always, but about 5 to 10 minutes after, I get this unbelievable head rush, like I'm going to pass out as well as all the other dumping symptoms multiplied by what feels like 100. All my other intake has been the same as any other day, so I don't think it's anything other than the B12. I'm just surprised it affects me like this.

Does anyone else have a problem with liquid B12 (or any B12 supplement)?

Thanks in advance for your help/opinion!

Many liquid supplements have a ton of sugar in it. Even if it's sugar free, much SF stuff is made with sorbitol, which can cause dumping feelings. Switch to a sublignal B-12, which you can get at Trader Joe's for $4. Or set it up to get a montly B-12 shot in the arm.

I need to know why you are taking your B-12 sublingual more than once a week. I think we are only suppose to take it one time a week. You may be ODing of b-12. I could be very wrong but talk to us about the B-12 you taking. Is is a daily b-12 supplement or a weekly supplement.

If I were going to go to let's say Mexico to get B-12 for the B-12 arm shot. what strength and kind should I get if a person were going to do this.

My doctor wants to charge me an office visit of $65 to have the b-12 shot in his office. The shot only cost $12.

Default B12

There is sorbitol in it... I just saw that. That might be the problem... especially since it only impacts me sometimes, but not every day.

The directions on my bottle say it's to be taken daily, so I think that's okay.

I will switch to the subligual B12 pill and see if that works. If it doesn't, I'll get the shot.

Thanks so much for the replies. You all are a wealth of knowledge! I was feeling desperate! What an awful feeling! I had to lie down on the floor right here at work!

It's generally 1000 micrograms per month. You can get a RX from the MD and get it filled and have someone do the shots for you.

This tread sent me scrambling to check the sugar in my liquid vitamins. I purchased mine from GNC. It has less then 1g of sugar.

Have you tried taking your vitamins with a bit of food. I'm still pre-op and I always get ill after taking vitamins. That has me worried because if I get sick after surgery from vitamins the chances are I won't take them again.

My advice is to check the sugar and try mixing your liquid with a bit of food.

Good luck and please keep us updated.

I take a sublingual B-12 pill every other day and it doesn't affect me at all. They say that it absorbs into your body quickly, too. Stick it under your tongue and let it dissolve. I buy mine at GNC-General Nutrition Center (St. Louis, Missouri area) for $12.00 for a pack of 60.
