I am a big believer in journaling. Be 100% honest. It makes you aware of what and how much you eat, it helps you see your habits. It also demonstrates a level of commitment to the surgery and your post-op care. You will probably be told to journal post-op as well. I journaled protein, sugar, fat and calories for about 6 weeks post-op. I'm not doing it now, but if I see myself slipping I will go back to it.
