Health goddess???? *L* Can't say I've heard that one at all!
Naaaa, I've just had a lot of good teachers. Now Corrine is certainly the vitamin goddess!
But thanks for the vote of confidence, Charlie.

THANKS MILADY!! You are the health gooroo that is for sure! I love reading your posts!! :O) I actually called celebrate vitamins this morning. I was very impressed by the rep. that I spoke with. He was very nice and very informative!! I have decided that until I learn more on my own I will be going with them for my vitamins, they help take the guess work out of all of this for us newbies! So I plan on placing my final vitamin order as the next 53 days slowly creep up. (CAN YOU TELL I AM COUNTING DOWN???)
Now I can basically throw away the whey protein drinks that I bought. (They were just a few samples thank the lord.) I never quite understood why I needed the ISOLATE! But I do now. I need isolate beacuse #1) it is better absorbed by the body #2) It has the essential amino acids that us WLS patients need to survive.
DID I GET IT RIGHT??
P.S. I REALLY WANT TO KNOW HOW TO LOOK UP POSTS from a certain user, from you for instance. How and the heck do I do that?

You're very welcome, Shelly! You got it exactly right!
I am extremely impressed with the Celebrate Vitamins. They are the most complete vitamin I have found. I take their Calcium, multi-vit and iron. I add in my own additional B12. I also take 500mg of Vitamin C with my iron. It will help the absorption. Just curious if the rep you talked to was Vic? If so he is actually the CEO of the company and is very knowledable.
If you want to look for other posts of a certain person, go to their profile page. There is a tab there that says "Statistics". If you go to that tab you will see something like "Find all threads started by MiladyB" or "Find all posts by MiladyB". You get to the profile by clicking on the person's name. That's the easiest way to find other posts by me or others.

Milady you are so inspirational and know so much! How ever did you learn all of this?? YIEX, I am overwhelmed!!
Yes, VIC is the person that I talked to, great guy! I had to wonder on the other end if he is also a WLS patient? I am for sure going with those vitamins. Did you do the pre-surgery vitamin? I am thinking about getting those to start now. (I was trying to finish up my prenatal vitamins from when I had my son a year ago before surgery!) I have never been a good vitamin taker (except when I was preggo), but will have no choice now!
I was able to find the posts by you, and that is great. Now two more questions of course! #1) Is there a way that I can create a link somewhere to my favorite articles? Right now I have a HUGE binder full of stuff that I have printed off of here. It would be nice to just be able to save the links via TT #2) How did you get the pretty flower profile? I want a pretty one as well.

Not sure what kind of computer you're using, but if you're using a PC (instead of a mac)... you probably use Internet Explorer or Firefox as your browser.. either way you can easily create a new folder in your 'favorites' or 'bookmarks'... after you've created a new folder, rename it to something easily remembered.. I have my folder named "Food/Diet/Health".. and in there I have subfolders named: WLS, Recipes, Nutrition, Health related Shopping and Fitness. Then I save each link in the appropriate folder in my bookmarks.
I do this for all of bookmarks.. for another example: my wedding, I have 1 main bookmark labeled "wedding" then sub-folders to break it down by vows, dresses, shoes, bridesmaid, groom, rings, reception, cakes, ceremony, honeymoon, groomsman and decorations.
Hope that helps.

In addition to looking in the person's profile under "Statistics", you can click on their name (above the avatar) in any of their posts and find a pull-down menu that includes an option to "Find More Posts" by that user. It's actually a bit faster than going through the profile, although profiles are more fun to look at!
In the Search feature here on TT, you can also look for threads started by particular members and with particular words used (e.g., MiladyB's protein discussion, or Lisa M's "best proteins") if you know who started the thread you're looking for...
On the subject of proteins, I've become a big fan of Syntrax Nectar powders, and they do have a line of Nectar Naturals (peach, orange, etc. ) which are high quality whey protein isolates with excellent concentrations of all the essential amino acids and also no artificial sweeteners - you might want to check them out at Vitacost (great prices, low shipping) or Vitalady (she sells samples of the different Syntrax Nectar and Nectar Naturals flavors)...

*L* Well thank you Shelly. How come I know so much? Well a couple different reasons. First I'm an RN with 31 years of critical care experience. Specifically burn patients. So I have a medical background. I'm also a bariatric support group leader. I believe in being prepared so I read, read and read. My dream is to one day work within a bariatric practice. That type of position isn't available to me right now. It's going to take a bit to make it happen so I'm taking this time to learn as much as I can about bariatrics. My surgeon's practice has some extremely wonderful people who have so kindly been willing to teach me. I'm frequently sending emails full of questions to the nutritionist, nurse and PAs. They have all been willing to explain things to me. So I've had some great teachers.
In regards to the profile? Well there is a way to personalize them. I know a bit about web design so I played around with it one night.
Ahhhh....I figured it was Vic you talked to. He actually isn't a rep he is the CEO of the company. I've never asked him if he was a wls patient but I've had some email discussions with him and I'm pretty sure he is. I know he takes the vitamins. He's also made some comments that makes me think that he is.
I didn't do the pre-op vitamins because the company wasn't even around when I had my surgery. I do think that it is a good idea though. I firmly believe that you need to go into this surgery in the best health that you can.
The way Misty saves info is how I pretty much do it to. Just go to "file" on your browser and go to "save". You can save things into a file on your desktop or one in your documents.

OSO/Eric- Thanks for the info. I am for sure going to order some samples of the Syntax "Naturals" from Vita lady. Good thing to know that they have other natural options, I was not aware of that! I guess that I can chuck the whey protein (non isolate) samples that I bought?
Milady- I think that in time your dreams will become a reality. I always say shoot for the stars and swing amongst the rainbows. You never know what will happen. You are way too knowledgeable to let that good knowledge go to waste and not share it with the world. I hope to be like you someday!

Does Syntrax have a web site? I googled the heck out of it and no luck. I was going to see if I could find out how to get some samples to help Shelly see what flavors would be like. Help here would be useful.
