Default Starbucks vs McDonalds

Up until about 6 weeks ago, I had never been to or purchased anything from Starbucks. However we stopped at one in a Target store and I had a SF iced vanilla coffee, which I really liked. I've since had 3 more over the past month or so. I don't know the cost, but my wife gets an unsweet tea and the bill is around $6.50 for both

Today I saw an ad for McDonalds SF vanilla iced coffee - anyone had one of those? I didn't get on but have to think they would be cheaper than SBux.

Anything I should be on the lookout for even though they are sugar free?

Thanks

I'm totally addicted to these too! If only it wasn't so difficult to order a hot one from my McD's...but the iced are great :0

I just looked up the nut value...have been meaning too...Medium has 90 calories/2 G sugar...not too bad!

AToM are you from the star city?

Default Watch the Fat Content!

Someone posted about this earlier, but you have to watch the fat content on the McD's coffees. They use a high fat cream base and from what I remember the drink has a ton of fat grams! I think you can order a "light" from starbucks that is made from skim milk. I would venture to say that they have less fat. Just a thought. You can probably do a search on McDonald's Iced Coffee and find that other thread on here somewhere.

Thumbs up

:::Hi:::
Fun to make your own too...some ice, cold coffee, splenda, powdered milk or non fat milk, vanilia flavoring....and put in the blender. I don't messure any of it, but a nice at home treat on these hot days!!!

Any ideas for those; ""I have to have something "" snacks that
are yummy and don't bother us ?? My hard time is about
8-10 p.m.

Have a skinny day !!!

All the calories in the McD's are from fat. It has a cream/hydrogenated oil base. Gross. Large 120 cal. 11 grams FAT!

Bux iced coffee has about 5 calories, no fat ... I add non-fat milk to mine for some protein and smoothness (cheaper than a skinny latte). A large is $2.65

Avoid McD's if you can ... just isn't worth it.

AND you run the risk of them NOT using the lower fat milk...(McD's)

sbux, I've never worried about them using the wrong milk for one you see them do it and it's pretty much all they do.....you know?

I don't know anything about the McDonald's drinks but be very careful about Starbucks. They have a new drink now, Vivano, which is made with Whey Protein. I looked into it and the chocolate banana one has 28 grams of sugar!!! They say no sugar added but where do the 28 grams come from? The whey protein is good, ask them to make it for you with skim milk and the banana is ok, don't add the chocolate but instead ask them to put in a shot of sugar free syrup - the flavor is up to you. Then it's ok to have.

Just had McD's yesterday - not close to Starbucks - stick with their decaf coffee. McD's are considerably cheaper (about $1.50 less on medium in this area) and will use fat-free milk. The nearest Starbucks is about 10 miiles from my house so I only indulge about once a month or so. My doc wants me to avoid decaf coffee. I try.
