Default I feel like a snacker....

I feel like I am becoming a snacker. I can NOT eat a "meal" or what would have been a meal since pre-op. I seem to nibble all day long....cheese, nuts, a few crackers if I need some calories and carbs, my shakes/protein bars, etc. but I can't seem to get into eating a meal - I feel too sick afterwards. I am getting the doctor recommended protein in but just can't deal with a "meal" - am I alone? I mean, really, I am not snacking on chips and doritos -

Be careful about grazing. Still eat your "meals" but only eat what you can. Don't push yourself and don't have any expectations about how much you should be eating. Everyone will say, theres days when you don't feel like eating anything, and theres days when you can eat quite well. Just do what your body tells you. If I don't feel like eating, I get my protein in by liquid. But just beware of grazing. Its a habit you must break to achieve long term success. I still catch myself wanting to graze or snack in between meals, but I know its just my old habit flaring up.

I was so afraid of getting into that habit that I have a couple of rules for myself. I only allow myself my 3 meals. If, when I eat my meal, I feel full, I know that was enough and I don't eat any more until the next meal no matter what. Sometimes I get a hungry feeling but I tell myself it's a lie and wait until the next meal. This working for me very well. I do, however drink protein twice a day. Once between breakfast and lunch and once between lunch and dinner. And if I didn't get enough protein during the day another one in the evening. So I guess that is my snacks. I do have to say though that once in a while, if my calories have been somewhat low for the day, I will treat myself to non-fat/sugar free ice cream or frozen yogurt in the evening. But that is rare. It's working for me but everyone's different. I have heard many say they do 4-5 small "meals" per day. Not grazing..not snacks. Everything we eat needs to be planned and be rich in the protein and nutrients we need since we can't eat much.
