Default I hate protein shakes

Hey everyone,
I'm having a heck of a time drinking my protein shakes. I'm only ten days postop and I have gotten all my requirements for water and protein in everyday. I first started with the syntrax protein the twisted cherry and fuzzy navel. I wanted to throw up from that so then I went with Body fortress vanilla and I am drinking it but I'm nauseated for an hour afterwards. I feel like I did when I was pregnant. I know that I have to drink them but they gross me out. Now I ordered a brand called Anywhey and it's suppose to be tasteless. I have spent way too much money on protein and my husbands getting kinda upset because I can't do anything with the open jugs. I have tried just about all different ways of drinking the protein I have froze it I have tried it with water and milk. If I could just chug it down that would help but that's impossible. It's just way too sweet for me. I drink skim milk as much as possible to try to get both fluid and protein in to try to avoid at least one shake. I got the ok to start on pureed foods so now I'm putting a slice of cheese in my tomato soup or I eat cottage cheese or I have a scrambled egg with melted cheese. I'm trying to get as much protein in with food rather than shakes but I still have to drink them. I wish that I could get more then 54 oz. of water in but I can't. I even upped my hourly allowance to 6oz. but I still can't hit 64oz. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Lisa ( I had the vsg )

I had the same problem as you. Drinking protein shakes was a nightmare.
I switched to the New Whey Liquid vials. It's 42 grams of protein for 3 ounces of fluid. They're very expensive and taste like cough syrup, but for me it was my only option for the first 2 weeks. MiladyB later informed me that the quality of protein they use basically renders it useless. So basically I threw away $4 on each vial AND didn't even get any real protein out of it.
Ultimately, I had to just grin and bear it. It takes a lot of money and effort to find one that works for you, and I don't think there's an easy way around it. Now, before I purchase ANY protein powder or shakes, I make damn sure they're returnable. If I can't get my money back, then forget it, it's not even worth it.
I'm still looking for that 'magic pill' ... it's got to be out there somewhere!!!

Stallone Puddings are a good alternative.

I got mine from GNC but you might be able to get them cheaper GNC

182g container, 100cals, 0 sugar and 20g protein. I used to mix them with a bit of soy milk occasionally - made a nice smoothie.

What about those protein bullets/test tubes? Did anyone ever try those? They look like fake fruit juice, but not sure how they taste! I think I'd be able to get that down better than a shake. Those "shakes" are reminding me of Slim Fast that I did over 15 years ago. I can't believe that's still having an impact.

I was able to drink PureProtein - it comes in a can, vanila or chocolate flavors.

I had no luck with protein mixes that suppose to be tasteless - they still would add a gross taste to soups. May be if I add it to 20 oz frozen shake it would not be noticable but it would take me too lonk to drink it.

LIQUID PROTEIN VIALS/BULLETS ARE USELESS

I am with y'all here. Protein sups suck! I have three open cases of IsoPure that I will be giving away at our next support meeting. I LOVED them pre-op. But now they are just...just...tasting predigested! I would sell them on Ebay but they are glass and impossible to ship. I also have some Unjury that I have already promised someone. I don't like jello or pudding. I got fat with quality desserts, babee!

I buy the pre-mixed stuff from Atkins shake cans to the Worldwide PureProtein cans (trader joes sells them) to AcheivOne bottles and I have the "Oh, Yeah" bars. I am trying to get my protein from FOOD, but I am still too early out to do that totally.
