Default Surprising popcorn info

Earlier tonight I made myself (literally) a handful of stove popped popcorn. Just a little veggie oil, and a enough popcorn seeds to cover about a half dollar size in my palm, and that was even a bit too much. Anyways, having only added kosher salt to the oil, and a couple sprays of I cant believe its not butter, I was thinking that aside from having no protein, its actually quite the healthy snack if you need a salty crunchy.

It's hard to believe a snack food that tastes so good can actually be good for you! With suggestions from organizations such as the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the American Dental Association (ADA) and the American Dietetic Association (ADA), there's no doubt popcorn is a perfectly sensible snack to fit into any meal/fitness plan.

* Popcorn is a whole grain food which makes it a complex carbohydrate that is not only low in calories, but a good source of fiber.
* Popcorn is low in calories -- only 31-55 calories in one cup of unbuttered, and when lightly buttered, one cup still only has 133 calories.
* Popcorn has no artificial additives or preservatives, and is sugar-free.
* Popcorn contains energy-producing carbohydrates.
* Popcorn is ideal for between meal snacking since it satisfies and doesn't spoil an appetite.
* Popcorn inspires creativity. While there's no doubt hot buttered popcorn is pleasing to any palate, popcorn also can be enjoyed when combined with seasonings, spices and other foods like raisins, fruit and cheese providing a nutritious, delicious snack.

I got this from Popcorn Board

Just thought I would put my two cents in. And yes, my NUT cleared me for a small portion of popcorn cooked this way a couple times a week.

Default Thank You!

Hi Bat,

Thanks for posting this. I too have discovered in the last couple of weeks that popcorn is pouch friendly and yummy as ever. Plus, with just a few calories it's a good way to solve the munchies I sometimes get in the afternoon or evenings. After reading a couple of other posts on here I was worried that I was the only one who ate it and was thinking I should do it in a closet somewhere b/c it was "bad" for me or something I shouldn't be eating...not that i would eat it everyday or that I graze on it all day long, but I believe its okay to have a treat every now and then and it helps keep me motivated and on track with my new lifestyle. (And, if the treat only have 35 to 55 calories, then yee haw!) Anyway, thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this!

A~

Okay.. not sure if you can eat them, I can't.. but here is a link to the ones I found. Note that I haven't tried them so I can't vouch for the flavor either.

(side note: we didn't call them "popnots" we called them 'old maids'.. )Spices by AmericanSpice.com.

What I wouldn't give to have some of the Kettle corn popnots!
