Default What the FAGE?

OK, I've been around here for a while and have seen many recipes with Fage. Many people seem to rave about the stuff. I gather that it is a greek yogurt. But, I'm looking for more info...

It is available at the Whole Foods near me, so I want to pick some up this weekend, but -why FAGE?
What makes it different than other yogurts? Does it have a higher protein content or some other "better" nutritional value?
Does it taste different? And if so, how?

I am a Fage virgin and want some experienced imput before I take the plunge! Thanks!

Higher in protein, creamier texture, and not as "tangy" as other plain yougurt. I use the 2% and am extremly happy with it. I mixes beautifully with fruit (and a little sf jam as sweetener, if needed), works very well in protein smoothies, and I have used it as a coating on skinless chicken before baking to keep it moist. Also good with Grapenuts, raisins, cinnamon, and a smidge of honey- heaven!

It's just made different and does indeed have a LOT more protein. The 2% has 17g protein for a 7oz serving. It is a plain yogurt, so it is more like sour cream when it doesn't have anything added to it, and is a much thicker, creamier texture than regular yogurt. I add 2 packets of Splenda and can eat it like that, but usually I also crumble a granola bar into it for texture and flavor and a total protein count of 23g for my lunch. Many people also use it in smoothies or for cooking or as a substitute for sour cream. Lots of uses!

CeeCee.. when you coat the chicken with the FAGE do you do anything else to it? I'm very interested in trying that.. I don't eat fish, so chicken is a mainstay and I'm having trouble with the dryness (I also do NOT like chicken thighs.. too gamey).. Thanks.

speaking of...

Ms. Beth, if you read this, could you re-post (or direct me to the post) where you talked about your recipe for high protein drink? It had fage, crystal lite, and carnation instant breakfast...

also, all I found at the store for sf carnation instant breakfast was chocolate.. I'm thinking you use vanilla?

I looked high and low for it at the grocery store the other day. Gonna have to try Trader Joe's I guess. I would love to try a fage berry smoothie!
