Default Need help with protein intake

I'm six weeks out, saw the nurse practitioner today, and I can eat anything. I'm nervous that I'll screw this up but also concerned because I haven't been hungry yet; I eat according to the time of day. I've been getting approx. 48-53g of protein each day. I've only been able to get about 23-26 oz. of water in each day and I sip throughout the day up til bedtime. I have been told that I need to increase the protein a bit and drink more water. I asked if it was time to consider a protein supplement and she suggested trying a protein bar for the extra protein. I've been very diligent in choosing good foods to eat for the most protein intake. She also seemed surprised that I had not had any protein shakes. I'm embarrased to say that I don't know how to make them. I'm going to bring this topic up at my support group meeting next week but also looking to all of you for suggestions.

I've lost 32 lbs, losing inches, and feel great other than being REALLY tired. I was told to up by B-12 at my month visit and it has helped, I can at least focus at work better, but still really tired.

Suggestions??????

all i got to say is SYNTRAX NECTAR its 23 grams of pure heavenly protein per scoop and it literally tastes and mixes like fruit juice. And she is right about that fluid girl you gotta have at least 64 oz but you dont have to have water you can do crystal light, SF koolaid, propel and stuff. I swear you'll feel better too!

HI Corey... I'm still struggling with the protein and water thing too... I get in 42 g protein with the New Whey Vials... since I'm mixing them in my water, killing two birds with one stone... I am NOT hungry and could care less about food. I open the fridge and shut it as nothing appeals to me...

My nutritionist did suggest BOCA products (soy protein)... so I will try that tomorrow. I seem to do better at work with water by my side all the time than I do at home... Silly, I know I feel better - more alert and stronger when I get the minimums in - but it's still a struggle.

Hang in there... I'm hanging with you!

Katie

(Warning: I did not like the Syntrax Nectar at all... see if you can buy samples before investing in a whole "jug" of the stuff --- same with the New Whey or any other protein. Most Nutrition stores will refund money for product you don't like... save your receipts!)

I made up my own protein shakes that I thought were pretty darned good!

I would take 2 packets of sf vanilla carnation instant breakfast: 10 grams
1 cup ff milk: 8 grams
1 2% fage yogurt: 17 grams
1 packet orange crystal light
Splenda to taste

Total 35 grams protein!

To me this tasted like an orange creamsicle!
