Great Protein Drink for those of us who can't do milk anymore!
Just wanted to share this as I found other threads on this subject very helpful! I am 4 weeks post op and one of the suprising things about my new pouch is that is doesn't like milk or anything creamy. (Suprising because before surgery, me and my 18 month old twins could go through two gallons of milk a week.) Anyway, since I didn't like any of the protein powders that you mix with milk and the slim fast and boost were getting very, very old, I started searching for alternatives. Through a couple of threads on this site, I discovered Syntrax Nectar. It comes in fruir flavors and you mix with water. Just received it yesterday and I am breathing a HUGE sigh of relief that I found a protein supplement that both me and my pouch like! I ordered the fuzzy naval, which is good plain. This morning I mixed a scoop with 16 ounces of water and a packet of Crystal Light Sunrise. OMG - It's very yummy - tastes like Sunny D with a kick of peach. I would have drunk this stuff before surgery! So, just thought I would share this in case anyone else, like me, is searching for a no-milk alternative for their protein. AND Thanks to those on TT who posted about the Syntrax Nectar and helped me find it!!

Hi Amy... there are serveral threads mentioning Syntrax Nectar--- I do thank you for posting this tho... I am sick to death of milky concoctions... and just discovered New Whey Protein vials (42g)... they're GOOD, but pricey. The S.N. seems like a reasonable alternative, and I've ordered two containers!
YAY for fruity and portable protein!

i swear i could start a Syntrax Nectar fan club! I'm eternally gratefully to Jim who told me all about it. I have tried, carribean cooler (just soso), fuzzy navel (yumm) but my all time favorite now is the strawberry kiwi! OMG girl i'm in heaven if you stick it in the freezer for about 40 minutes its just like a smoothie! awwww the simple pleasures in life

I've never tried the Syntrax protein but I'm going to order a sample from vitalady before I commit myself to a big tub (been there! LOL). Vitalady.com - Protein Supplements, Vitamins & Minerals, and Safe Snacks!

This probably shouldn't be my first post, but I was looking over these forums because I was concerned what my post op protein source would be and this seems like it might be my answer.
I'm having my GBP next week and have recently become concerned about protein sources. I currently have no problems mixing up a good chocolate, strawberry or vanilla protein shake with skim milk, but have been hearing more and more and how I might not tolerate milk or sweet tasting drinks after surgery.
Does anyone have any other tips on protein the first week or so after surgery?
Also - I don't remember 100% why, but my nutritionist told our pre surgery class that she didn't recommend the protein bullets because they didn't have one of the amino acids that we needed - again don't really remember what she said because I had never heard of bullets before, but it seems people here are using them with no problems.
Sorry for the long ramble,
Lisa

I saw my nut yesterday. At the mere mention of the protein vials, she had a cow. She said the protein is mostly collagen, not whey (for the New-Whey brand, anyway).. Whey was the third protein listed, not the first protein in the ingredient list, and water was the first ingredient.. she also said it was an incomplete protein.
This stinks, because I could use a good, easy to carry and easy to get down protein source.
