Default Hair loss and Biotin

a friend of mine who had weight loss surgery 2 years ago lost tons of hair. She recently began taking biotin and she is seeing lots of regrowth. She had actually formed a large bald spot on the top of her head. She is now peachy up there.

I began taking Biotin around 4 weeks ago and it seemed that the hair loss lessened. However, the past week, I have noticed handfulls coming out.

No one can notice as I have a lot of hair, but I can notice and I am worried.

Does any one know about Biotin. Am I gaging down for no reason or should I keep taking it?

Rain~
I lost handfuls of hair and I know everyone else has gone through this. I was told by my hair stylist that Biotin will help strengthen the hair, but will NOT prevent it from falling out nor will it make it grow. Don't worry, your hair will grow back. Mine started to grow back last month...I have a bunch of baby hair growing and sticking straight up.

Arrow Biotin

Rain.. I don't want to Rain on your parade (haha.. sorry lousy joke) but honestly even my hair dresser who is very keen on all of the latests remedies and does a ton of research states that it is not really going to help our cause. Actually my friend, you are at the stage right now when the hair loss is the worst.. I say just let it run it's course but do get a hair drain stopper thingy for your shower.. it is really gross to clean it out all of the time.. talk about stinky!! Anyway I definitely don't recommend any other products such as rogaine or whatnot because once you stop taking it, your hair falls out again, but this time worse!! So just be cautioned of that as well. I don't think the Biotin hurts, but it really doesn't help much either. I took it for a few months and still lost a lot of hair. I didn't care though.. it was worth it.. I have all these lil buds sticking out now.. hehe

Question Hair

I didn't notice that I lost hair during weight loss, mainly because I have so much hair to begin with! However, I've recently noticed that sections of my hair have become CURLY! It seems like the curly parts are along the edges of my scalp...along the back of my neck and in my sideburn areas. I've heard that this can happen because of a hormonal change, but it's so bizarre having curly hair when I've always had really straight hair!

Very weird science!

Smile The hair issue

Rain: I started talking Biotin after a year out, I started losign hair at about 2 1/2 months out and continued to lose it for about another 4-5 months. No (one noticed except me and the mean girl at work) I started Biotin after the hairloss ceased... just like everyone else said, those are all great advice. Biotin not only helps your hair but nails too, and I noticed better strength in my nails now too. Just embrace the loose hairs, thinking of them as every hair lost is another pound lost.......

Dara: aka Lil Girl Curl... Ive heard alot of folks say the same thing, that there hair started to curl.... Im a natural curly top, all is the same here... Im glad mine didnt straighten

Thanks for all the good advice.

Dale thanks for sharing, I can't wait to see all your baby hairs in person some day.

Christina, I love your lousy joke. If we can't laugh ourselves who else will....actually.... probably a bunch of people...O.K. forget that analogy...I'm kiddin' You know I love your sense of humor and I will embrace my hair loss. I will get a drain cover strainer thing. Thanks

Dara, You do have lots of hair, but so do I. I think maybe cause mine is long, I have a handful of long stands and that makes me notice it. No one else seems to notice, not even my husband. He says I always had in hair in the shower.

Bridget, I totally see my nails being stronger and healthier. So I will keep taking it and see where the hair goes....probaby down the drain.

Lov ya all,

Rain

My surgeon has told me to start taking Biotin and Zinc now to help slow down the hair loss after surgery. He said 200 mg of zinc.
