Helpful site for eating out
I just received my OAC newsletter in the mail and there was an article about this site. It is a new site that will give you a list of healthier food choices at area restaurants. It also includes the nutritional information. The restaurants range from Fast Food restaurants to upscale restaurants. You just put in your location and it gives a list of restaurants and healthier food choices for restraurants in your area.
Here is a description of the site.
Quote:
Love to eat out? Watching your weight? Health- or nutrition-conscious?
Now there's an easy way to:
Find HEALTHY DINING choices at all types of restaurants
View nutrition information for those dishes (calories, fat, carbohydrates, protein, fiber, etc...)
This website was created by health and nutrition professionals with your health AND tastebuds in mind!
New restaurants and menu items are frequently added to our database of popular restaurants, with nutrition information for their healthier options.

So anyway, I thought I would share it with you. I found it very informative and helpful.

You're welcome. I'm glad you all found it helpful. I'm hoping they will be adding more and more restaurants!

Thank you for visiting www.HealthyDiningFinder.com. This is a growing program and the largest-ever initiative to inspire restaurants to offer healthier choices.
I am hoping that you clicked on the restaurant logos (On the Border, Chevy's, etc) in your search results to find the restaurant's healthier options and nutrition information - that is really the 'main course' of the site and what makes the site so valuable for the public.
The goals of the HEALTHY DINING program are to:
1.provide Americans with an ever-evolving, growing number of healthier choices when eating away from home – at all kinds of restaurants, from large chains (where a large majority of Americans eat) to small independents, from fast food to fine dining, and
2.provide the restaurant industry with nutrition expertise and a comprehensive program/vehicle making it easy and beneficial for restaurants (of any size or type of cuisine) to offer and promote healthier menu items.
We will continue to add restaurants to the program and website – it is our hope that all 935,000 restaurants throughout the nation will join the program in the coming years!! Feel free to refer your favorite restaurants by downloading our “Refer-A-Restaurant” form at http://www.healthydiningfinder.com/s...e/handouts.php.
Healthy Regards,
Andrea Ogden, R.D.
