Nothing tastes good
Hi,
Since having my surgery May 18, food has never been the same for me. Very rarely am I hungry. Most of the time no food sounds good to me. Many times when my partner asks what I am interested in having for a meal, the conversation disgusts me. When I do eat something that in the past I have liked or thought had a nice flavor, I find that usually I am not liking the taste or the food anymore. I eat now knowing that I must and that it is for solely nutrition. I realize part of this change is an affect of having the surgery, however I wonder if others go through similar feelings about foods. Honestly, if I could live on non-fat yogurt, cottage cheese, bananas, green beans, cabbage, few nuts, turkey, chicken, boiled or mashed potatoes and once in a while a bite or two of something sweet I would be satisified, this is very different than before.
Thanks
pepitpeb

Oh Paul, I am officially "your brother(sister) from another mother"
I am on the cusp of being 3 years out from surgery.I too still feel the same.
I continue to have a about 10 food items that are my staples.
Cheese, oatmeal, corn, greenbeans, cauliflower, granola, peanut butter on toast, baked beans. Those are my safe foods.
Everything else, maybe a bite and I am done.
My labs are good, except for Iron, I am very anemic, that will not improve until I can eat more meat...meat & I are not friends and I miss it the most.
You can survive on a small verity of food, kinda boring, but can be done.We are living proof.
Take Care,

At just 3 months out...I'm feeling the same. Stuff does not taste the same to me anymore, and I'm a little frustrated by it.
My current staples are: Peanut Butter, Wheat Bread, Triscuits, Cheese, South Beach Diet Bars, Healthy Choice Manicotti, Lean Cuisine Spaghetti, Egg Drop soup, Chicken Noodle soup, Beef Barley soup, as well as the protein shakes I drink and lots and lots of Tea!
Last night we had these beef roll ups with stuffing. I ate maybe 2 ounces of the meat, a few spoonfuls of the stuffing, and a couple pieces of broccoli. The only thing I enjoyed was the broccoli. Before, I LOVED red meat, but it's so dense that it's difficult to get down. Chicken is okay, but I don't eat it often. A couple of times a week I have something that's not on my staples list, but I seem to do better when I just stick to what I know. I haven't had much desire for sweets, but I have wanted fried stuff. I usually don't swallow it and just spit it out, but the couple times that I did, I felt funny afterward...it's not worth it.
I'm okay with things right now. I like having a limited list to remember, it makes making choices easier from day to day. I'm reintroducing stuff at this point, maybe one thing a week or so, and it's going well.
Can I also say Paul, that you look awesome, man! You are doing fantastic! I hope I look as good in another 100 pounds! I saw your pics in your other post and it looks like things are really going well for you! COngrats!
