Thanks LQ for the info. I am going to try the Caltrate chewables. They sound tasty. I'll check out the wal-mart brand kids chewables too. This is a long term deal so I want to save money where I can.
At least I won't be spending my money on Kit Kat Bars.

Question

Just a thought....I think the Caltrate are not the right kind of calcium. I think we need Citrate calcium and I beleive Caltrate is the other kind. (can't remember the name carbonate??)

We can absord the citrate calcium better after wls. Check with Tracie, or your Dr.

I've done the Walmart kiddie chewables and just started on the Centrum chewables. I haven't had any problems with them. I also chew 4 Tums EX or the walmart brand everyday. I remember that early post-op I tried the Caltrate and crushed it up. I got very very sick. I don't think it was the type of calcium, but rather a piece got stuck for a little while. My surgeon and nutritionist recommends the Tums.

Hey Christina,
Are you on a prenatal as well? my doctor told us we would be on a prenantal and a chewable vit. for the rest of our lives. He said the prenatal picks up where the chewable wont. just a suggestion.

WOW! So many vitamins, so many opinions. I started taking the Centrum Chewable immediately post op and have had no problems. We don't start calcium until 3 mo. out and then it has to have zinc and magnesium in it for better absorbability. Good luck

We only are to take multivitamins now. We only did the bugs bunny (the only sugar free) chewable in the beginning because the bigger ones were hard to swallow and digest. I take 2 multivitamins a day. Right now I am taking the one a day carb smart. (What do you think of those ones Tracie?) and they seem to be doing good for me. I sometimes take pre-natal ones but it depends on what is on sale. Basically I try and do the best I can with them. I am religiously taking the multivits now.. afraid not to, as I know the consequences now..

Good luck to you..
