Default Protein Bars

Ok, what do you guys think the best protein bars are, an where do you get them?

Which have the highest protein count?

I need to stock up before the clock strikes 12.

Don't stock up on anything yet. Wait until after the surgery. You won't be having protein bars for a 2-3 weeks, they are quite "heavy" to digest. Also, what you might like now may be awful tasting later. Plus, with "stocking" up, many foods will go bad long before you finish it up, unless you have a family who's willing to eat your leftovers

As for a suggestion, I have Premiere Protein bars from Costco. They come in a box of 4 flavors. Each bar has 31 grams protein and about 210 calories. It's $20 for a box of 24. As for protein drinks, I use Isopure powder mixes. Each serving has 50 grams protein and 300 calories, and some with zero net carbs. Keep in mind, it takes all day to get down just one serving of anything.

You won't eat them until your at least 6 weeks post op. I like the atkins bars but only some of them. Wait until your allowed to eat them because your taste buds will change.

Thumbs up CarboRite Bars

Yes, you should definitely wait to buy any bars - I'm six weeks out and I just started eating them this past week. I'm really sensitive to sugars and sugar alcohols, so I've been eating the low-carb versions of protein bars. They don't have near as much protein (about 10 grams) as some of the others, but they have 1 gram or less of sugar, and they're small enough that I can eat it without feeling ill. CarboRite is the brand, and they sell them in most stores. When you get to 5 or 6 weeks, just buy one of a few different brands and flavors and see what you can handle.

Ditto to what everyone else said. Wait to buy them and don't stock your cupbards full of anything pre-op. I STILL have tons of sugar free jell-o left....I can't stand the stuff now! <LOL>

Talking Protein bars

Howdy folks! I like Atkins bars. They have 13 grams of protein and 0 sugar. They come in Cinnabun and Apple Crisp flavors. You can buy them at your local grocery store, they are about $6.50 for 6 bars. I like the apple one. It's nice to find a protein bar that isnt chocolate, peanut butter, caramel or some other nasty component I am trying to stay from. I didnt start eating them until i was about 3 months postop. Best wishes!

Default Yucky Bars

I know what you mean about the "Standard Flavors"

It's nice to have variety. Thanks for all the input!
