Is there a cheese that actually tastes of cheese?
I've been adding Kraft ff grated cheese to everything and anything to increase my protein intake. And for that, it's great. But a major problem for me is that it doesn't taste of cheese at all.
I want something that actually tastes of cheese! Is there an alternative? Do I have to stick with fat free?
I've never eaten much in the way of meat - fish is OK but cheese has always been important in my diet.
Anyone got any suggestions?
ETA - apologies for the confusing title - couldn't edited it - sorry

Corrine, personally I can't stand the fat free cheese so I usually go with the reduced fat. It's much better in my opinion. I do limit my cheese and fats, to a point, but if I'm going to be eating cheese I want it to taste good. The fat free stuff is just terrible, IMHO.

Love my cheezzzzzzz
Cheese has been a tolerated staple food for me.I can't tolerate alot of solids but I do cheese very well...all sorts.I do not get FF or reduced but I do agree with Beth that the reduced fat cheese has more flavor.
OMG, I just looked in my fridge.I have six different cheeses'.Everything from Velveeta slices, Swiss, Munster, Provolone, Brie...I Love cheese

OK!
I'll start testing out the lower fat ones.
I have always had a love of cheese above anything else but was careful to limit myself because of it. I just want something that tastes of what it's supposed to be.
Thank you!

Cheese is one of the things I've allowed myself to indulge in. I eat the string cheese, but I also eat port wine spread, brie, munster, sharp cheddar, mozzerella, etc. As little as I eat in a serving, I don't think it hurts and my nut agrees. It tastes good and is a excellent source of protein! Being from Wisconsin, I bet you have an amazing selection of cheeses to choose from! I would just say don't over-indulge, but eating non fat free or low fat cheese in moderation is fine! Happy cheese-eating!

I'm originally from WISCONSIN...so I'm a CHEESE HEAD!! FF Cheese is NASTY! (This from a girl who had to ween herself off of Whole MILK and 4%fat cottage cheese!!) Reduced Fat is ok...but I prefer the normal cheese! Sting Cheese is a staple to me...it's easy to digest and it doesn't get stuck for me...so I eat that often. Dump the FF...that stuff is ICKY! (Just because it doesn't have FAT doesn't mean it doesn't have CALORIES!!)

You're right Zen. FF cheese is nasty. I even offered some to one of my dogs today (buried her meds in it) - she looked at me as if to say "you have to be joking!". Needless to say, I rewrapped her pill in a bit of British Cathedral City Vintage Cheddar - it was gone in a flash.
I had pretty much made my mind up that I wouldn't be eating the FF stuff again. I don't mind having less as long as I can have something I can taste.
Thank you for your help.
