Exclamation What about fiber?

Without going into too many details, what is everyone doing about getting enough fiber in your diet? I've checked OTC remedies, but it seems that you have to consume a lot of water (immediately) after taking, and/or eat a grip of tablets (9-15) YUK! Ideas?

Default Cherie,

Hopefully Christina will chime in about this subject. She has the cure!

Cherie:

Constipation is usually caused by not drinking enough water and/or not eating enough fiber. I have had a problem eating green leafy vegetables since about three months post-op. For some weird reason, I just cannot tolerate lettuce or spinach. By about six months post-op, I felt like I was giving birth to boulders. So I instituted a generic stool softener (brand name - Colace) and it has helped enormously. This is something you might consider if you're having similar issues. Good luck!

Fiber....I have to take stool softeners. Sometimes I have to drink Christina's tea that is called Smooth Move, but I don't do it too often because it is a laxative and it sometimes makes me nauseous. I use it in case of emergency.

Barbara,

You are still quite new, you don't need to worry about calories now. You are at the stage where it will melt off effortlessly, you must consume what you can tolerate. And sip sip sip....

Hugs,

Traci

Default Barbara Jo,

What Traci said. You don't have to worry about calories yet. Just remember ~ protein first, then veggies, then fruit, then if there's room, carbs.

I was really having problems going to the bathroom. Big problems. Once I put in a salad of spinach or some major roughage into my diet, I seem to be much better. But I have tried smooth move, and colace with and without laxatives and laxatives. And I have even done the dreaded Fleet two times so far in 6 wks. But once again once i put in enough roughage it seems to start working great.

Sorry if that we too graphic for you.....
