Question hey.....tracie!!????

Hey Traci,

You should request to be on Dr. C.'s (paid) staff with all the help your giving out!!

These are my questions:

1. I noticed that many people go for the less expensive vitamins and buy in bulk like from Costco, etc. What about the theory about how the vitamins are processed and absorbed based on the higher quality of vitamins?

2. I just got a call from Dr. C's office, that my blood tests showed low thiamin. How do you suggest I take this and what brand do you reccommend? Also, this test was taken 5 weeks post op (i am 8 1/2 weeks now). They called me last week to say my tests where fine. Today I get a call that says I am low in thiamin? Is this common? wuzzzzuppp???

Rain,
I had extremely low levels of thiamine B1 and it took me a long time to get them up and then I crashed back down recently. They put me on 100mg twice a day and then Kelly raised the dose to 200 mg twice a day and then I was overdosed, so Dr. C jumped in and took me off completely. This is when I crashed back down below the low levels. Right now, I am only taking 100 mg of B1 from Henry's and I am bringing the level back up quickly. Withing a week, it went from 8 to 34 which is pretty quick. Make sure you get that B1 ...it is extremely important.

All this vitamin stuff is very confusing. What I will do if this happens to me has got me...good luck. I will read everything from this point on.
Rain...maybe the thiamin takes extra time to show low or high levels? How do you feel? Does it feel like you are off balance? Just wondering.

Thumbs up Rain & Kelly

Rain,

As far as the Thiamine goes.. (B1) you really need to start taking it if that is what they recommended. Somehow the office is getting messed up. They were doing the same thing to me and it was frustrating. My B1 levels are low too. That is why I have to go to the Neurologist because it has caused what could be irreversible nerve damage in my legs.. so don't take it lightly. I too take the B1 from Henrys or is it Sprouts now? LOL Anyway it works good for me and my levels are back up. Yipppeee Kelly wanted me to get off of it now, but Dr. C said we can just cut back because I was over the limit now.. and I expressed my fears of getting off of it completely.. I don't want to plummit again, and with this nerve damage.. I am not taking any chances. So we compromised to only 4 x weekly instead of 7. Then we will re-do my blood tests.

Kelly,

As far as feeling off balance.. get used to it my friend. That was one of my concerns early post op.. I mean I am already a clutz and to be even more clutzy than normal was really freaking me out. I think it has to do with your body changing.. and you don't lose weight evenly throughout your body when you lose it. Your body also has to readjust to the weight loss as well. You haev to readjust to your new body.. etc. You'll be fine my friend, it is perfectly normal. I had the same concern like I said. But look at me I don't even have to wear a helmet anymore.. LOL (Even though Stuart says I need to.. lol)

Rain...I think that the best thing to do is to go with reputable companies. Naturemade seems to be pretty good for the most part. The main thing is that the vitamin is in a form that our bodies can process.

Thiamine is B1. You can take it alone or in the form of a B complex. I actually take 100 in B1 form and 100 in the complex form (where you get other Bs as well). The B1 I found alone is in a tablet form (I prefer capsules, however)...the B complex is a capsule with powder inside. Just remember not to take a time release form of the vitamin or you won't get all the benefit.

As far as them calling you, I have been called 3 or 4 times with wrong information. I complained to Dr. P at the last visit...and the very next day I got another call with wrong info again! It is very aggravating and I am sorry it has happened to you, too.
