Default Food's to Take to Work

I'm getting ready to get back to work after my surgery and I need some help with lunch ideas.

So far I haven't had ANY food intolerance's and I have tried everything from milk to sushi. Of course I always chew my food well and never stuff myself...

Some days it would be nice if I could take a Lean Cuisine or something that would be easy, but I am not opposed to tuna or chicken salad.

Just wondering what others might take to work for lunch.

Have any of you tried the Lean Cuisine type of products? Any bad results?

I took protein shakes with a lil blender. Tiny cans of chili, tiny cans of beanie weenies...usually could get thru a third of the can...I miss those days!
String cheese, cottage cheese. I don't like the lean cuisines because so many of them have pasta or rice (which don't do well by me), and you are so early out, do you think you could get enough out of one to justify it? Maybe down the road. Deli meats with cheese...

I make a big pot of chili and freeze in one cup portions to take with me...it thaws out by lunch and then I just nuke it. I also take: protein drinks, lean cuisine spa shirmp, cheese/pickles/crackers, thick soup, egg salad, leftovers from dinner the day before -ie: meat with veggies, protein bars, boiled eggs - cheese is a staple for me so almost always pack some. Don't forget to pack a snack too in case you need one. I keep crystal light singles to add to water. Some do jerky, but I can't stand it! Early out I did the protein drinks 3 times a week or so at lunch and then had veggies and fruit sometime during the day. Yogurt is good too!

The South Beach chicken salad kits are ideal to take to work. They are between 240 - 290 calories with 24 -29 grams of protein and are very tasty.

Well, I don't take them to work, but I have found a couple Weight Watcher's Smartones that are pretty good. I like the homestyle chicken; it has 25 grams of protien and 280 calories. I also like the turkey medallions with mushroom gravy. It is 18 grams of protien with 200 calories. And the salisbury steak is pretty good too. It has 20 grams of protien and 200 calories. All of these meals are just the meat with sauce/gravy and veggies. There is no pasta, rice or potatoes involved, which I like cause I am not tempted to eat it

Those are some good suggestions... I hadn't thought about how big the portions would be for me in the frozen dinners. I wouldn't be able to eat half of them!

I'm very worried about hydration at work. At home I can't drink whenever I feel like it... going to have to adjust to that at work and figure a way to get my oz's in everyday...

I appreicate the suggestions... they'll help me plan it out a bit better...

I take ... cheese sticks or yogurt for breakfast, usually leftovers for lunch (I have a freezer full of 2oz portion cups all ready to just pop in my purse and go).. I also have a jar of peanut butter at my desk. I dont feel hunger.. but occassionally I get really nausous and I need to get ANYTHING in my stomach.. I like to do that with PB. I also take my protein with me to get it done.. but I have a desk job, and I can drink whenever I want.

I cant imagine eating almost 300 calories at one sitting yet, so I dont do the frozen meals..

Good Luck...

Default Lean Cuisine

The Chicken Carbona is really good. The chicken is separate from the noodles, so if you nuke and throw away the noodles, no need to worry about the pasta.

The chicken is tender and goes down easy.
