Default What is the deal with water??

Does anyone out there in WLS land have trouble drinking normal tap-water. Believe it or not I am craving cold water, warm water any kind of water and cant get it down without pain in my belly. I have found this incredibly expensive water that i can tollerate but it is going to send me to the poor house. Does this feeling ever go away.....please someone say yes. I find that all the other liquids that Dr.s suggest are too sweet for me..HELP!

Thank you all for your time

Red face Water

I was able to sip Arrow Head after surgery. I have never been a tap water drinker, because I think it taste gross. My friends call me a water snob, but Arrow Head or Sparkletts really isn't that expenisive. I know that Vons useually has one or the other on sale.
Make sure that you are not drinking to much to fast. I know that when I was first post up if I drank to fast it would hurt.

Kate, I have trouble with water as well. It just doesnt feel good when going down. It was worse, so I can only assume with more time, it will even get better.

Kate,

I have a few suggestions that helped me through the liquid phase. I, too am a water snob, and won't drink tap water. I usually buy kirkland (costco brand) water or even Stuart has a Britta Water filter thingy. That works real well and we can use tap water. It is kind of expensive at first but if you think of all the money you save and the environment you are saving by not using all those little bottles all the time it is worth it. I used Crystal Light a lot also and sugar free koolaid (tropical punch was my fav.) Good luck to you and know you aren't alone. I craved ice cold water too !!

I am with you guys on this one! Water sometimes hurts my tummy no matter how fast or slow I drink it - no matter what temperature - unless it is a specific brand of water. However, I can crunch and eat ice with no problem whatsoever! Explain that to me!

My doc said that some patients just have problems with water and he couldn't really explain it. He said to try Crystal lite or to squeeze a little lemon in my water to see if I could drink it that way. (Surprisingly enough, squeezing a little lemon in my water really does help sometimes.) Distilled water sometimes works for me.

Also, I finally realized that I simply can't tolerate water on an empty stomach. So, I make sure I eat a little something before I try to start getting my liquids in. I try to add extra ice to all of my drinks, so that the ice will melt and mix with whatever I'm drinking. (crystal lite, unsweetened tea, or whatever) This helps me get in more water during the day.

Melody

Good water tip!!

Palomar Drinking Water co. offers a 70 gallon tank that they install for free and fill up on a regular basis. They tap it in to where ever you want it and I think it cost about $1.40 per gallon. We even have our ice maker hooked up to it. With a family of 5 big water drinkers we spend about 40$ a month.

It comes from artisian well water from Palomar Mtn. Yummy and delicous!!
We love it and if you tell them I sent you I get free water. We have had them for almost 20 years!!! We love, love it!!!

Default It is weird, isnt it?

I have found that the only way that I can meet my water and juice requirements is if they are frozen. I usually crunch or suck on crushed ice and keep my juice slushy in the freezer. If it is liquid, I tend to swallow too much air and freezing it does seem to help for me.

I have also found that most of the sugar free drinks are too sweet or have that artificial sweetener aftertaste. I'm trying different flavors of koolaid with splenda to see if I can find something else to drink to get enough fluids (I'm still on the clear liquid stage).

A faucet mounted pur or brita filter might help with you dislike of tap water. We've used one for a couple of years and it really does help with the taste.

Nope, I can't help you here. I am a camel.

I love iced water and iced tea. So far no struggles with liquids. I am a lactose phobe though.

If you don't want to go for the bigger expense of putting the filter on your faucet maybe try getting a pitcher from brita or pur or whatever first. If that is tolerable then you can try the filter on your faucet. Save a couple of bottles from water you have bought (the little 20 or so oz ones) and refill them to take with when you go out.
