Hello!
I hope you are doing well! I will be 6 months post op on the 28th and trust me it gets better than where you are now! I used to hate the fact I couldn't just drink a bottle of water if I was thirsty like I used to be able to as well. You will be able to drink more at one time as time goes on so don't stress about it right now! Try to keep on your Drs recommendations as much as possible and you will have great success! You are eating mushy foods now or have you graduated to some solids now? If you are still on mushy yogurt was my staple food for like the 1st month after surgery. You can have sugarfree pudding as well and jello! I eat those sugarfree real fruit bars made by Edy's those are good if you miss your fruit and it counts as a fruit as well! You want to make sure when you do eat you eat your protein first so it will seem like all you eat is protein for a little bit but as you get further out you can add things like green veggies are great and different things. They like you to try to stay right with their recommendations so you can learn a new way of eating and if you stray it really can mess with your staying on track. You will hear people who eat things that aren't highly recommeded and lose weight still but keep in mind in the long run they aren't learning to eat in a new way they really just went back to their old way in a smaller amount and probably when they are able to eat more. My theory is if I did all this I want to make sure it works so I am pretty diligant about keeping track of what I eat even if it's not a highly useful food. That way I stick to my calorie intake and I can look back later to see what worked and what didn't. The first 6 months my Dr likes to call the Honeymoon phase where you will lose no matter what and after that is when you need to tighten down to get weight off. So he whatever he recommended I did and do. It helped me to go to a dietician that is familiar with bariatric surgery. We have one at our clinic but if you don't maybe look around for one. They can help you keep on track as your increasing your foods and calories to give you ideas of different things. Are you going to a support group? They are really helpful as well for different ideas and tips. Well, I could go on forever but I have to get my morning shake in! Procomplex has some good ones if you can drink skim milk I do one scoop with 8 oz of skim milk and its only about 220 calories 38g protein and 13 carbs. It's a good balanced mix too with different types of protein so it will keep you full longer! Alright if you need anything just yell, there are a lot of great people who will help you out around here! Good Luck to you and Congratulations! Don't be too down on what your eating now it will get better and as you learn what works for you then it will be a breeze, these are just small steps to a better life and you will do great!

As Of Right Now, Im On Soft/solid Protiens And Nothing Else. Im Trying My Best To Stick To My Dr.s Regimen. If I Don't Want To Eat, I Will Mix A Protien Shake And Sip On That. Thank U So Very Much For The Advice! I Have Read So Many Things On This Site That I Want To Talk To My Dr. About (wondering What His Answers Will Be)..lol..i Would Love To Add A Bit Of Chili To My Diet!! I Was Also Thinking About Freezing The Protien Nectars, And Eating Them Like Popsicles..has Anyone Ever Done That?..it Comes From Bariatric Advantage..anyone Order From Them?

hello again!
I was told once I could eat soft foods Wendy's Chili was alright to eat. As well as the pinto's and cheese from Taco Bell. You could get those little popsicle makers where you make your own and use S.F. Kool Aid or maybe Crystal Light or something like that. Or even the S.F. pudding and make frozen pudding pops for something different! Yes, make notes for your Dr of anything that comes to mind and bring them with you when you go back to see him. I have been doing that since before my surgery and I still do it. I just had my 6 month check up on Thursday last week, according to them I have lost 91 Lbs so far which isn't too shabby! I have no complaints, of course everyone is different to how they handle different types of foods and all that so all I can say is keep a positive outlook on things and it will all come together. Some days can be hard just trying to keep up with everything but it will be worth it once you get it down and know what your doing. Once you understand the food you eat and it's value it makes it a bit easier. I look at it like is it worth the calories. Example say you have a piece of string cheese (Light Frigo brand) is 60 Calories, 8 Grams of protien and 0 carbs so to me that's worth the calories. Something not really worth it would be say something that has high calories and no real protien value in it. I do eat peanuts for a snack here and there. They are good for you as well, but their value isn't too good. For 1 serving it's 170 calories, 7 grams of protien and 5 carbs. So in reality something like beef jerky would be great there is some Jack Links that has 80 calories, 18g of protein, and 2 carbs I believe something like that. So that's obviously worthy! My goal each day is to get my 90G of protein in and 1000 calories but I try to stay under 50-60 carbs. I don't know if that makes things confusing or not. I can ramble sometimes LOL... If you need anything feel free to yell. All the Drs are different so you will probably hear all sorts of things here and there they are not wrong just different beliefs about things. For the most part they are all the same give or take here and there!
Take it easy!
Melody

I'm only 19 days post-op, but here are my favorites so far ...
String cheese ... perfect to "fill" you up and great source of protein.
Shrimp with lots of dipping sauce.
Cottage cheese ... I think the Non-Fat variety has better texture/taste.
Cheese soup from "The Soup Plantation" resteraunt ... thinned out with broth.
Sugar-Free Jello Pudding made with Blue Diamond UNsweetened almond milk.
And for the protein drink ... (which I absolutely HATE doing) is the New-Whey liquid protein vials. Only 3 ounces to suffer through ... and 42g. protein.
These are expensive in my opinion. They are from Vitamin World and sell for $31.99 when on sale ... or $45.00 regular price and you get only 12 servings (vials). But for now this is the best I can do.
Anyone else out there use this protein?

I came across a good food find today. It's Old Wisconsin Brand Turkey Snack Bites. They are basically just like beef sticks, only made with turkey.
Serving Size is 6 pieces (28grams)
Calories = 60
Fat = 3g
Protein = 7g
Sodium = 280mg
Carbs = 0
These things taste delicious and is a great snack to get a quick 7 grams of protein.
