Default Egg Nog

So I was absolutely devastated last night to learn that egg nog is NOT a protein drink.

So anyone have any egg nog alternatives? I want to get my NOG on!

Davinci has egg nog syrup-throw it in some vanilla protein. I don't know if it is good-I don't like egg nog

I bought my usual 1 quart/year quota of egg nog, knowing that the lactose might be hard on me. Yeah. Not just that, but the sugar made me dump madly as well. It's now taking up space in my fridge. I'm bummed, I love my annual quart of nog--I'm the only one who likes it, and I used to drink it like 2 oz at a sitting to make it last longer. No more! Just another little something that I don't get to enjoy anymore. (I sound whiny, don't I? Sorry!)

Even milk makes me dump, but I may just have to try a sip of the ole egg nog and hope that nothing happens with the lactose and other sugars - no more than a sip..anyone care to babysit me while I do it?!

An "Eggceptional" Tea. Now you can indulge in the delicious taste of "eggnog" often - without the guilt! Bigelow's All Natural Eggnogg'n Tea is a smooth and delicious blend of black and green teas with creamy flavor of eggnog. Only Bigelow could pack all this taste into one tea bag. When you need a little pick me up, brew yourself a cup

Yes, I have it. It is good. I mean it is good for zero calorie tea that is vaguely egg noggy, not delicious good like real egg nog.

Default how about making your own?

Here are a couple of recipes for sugar-free eggnog - no guarantees, I haven't tried these myself. I would also make it with Lactaid or another lactose-free milk, which you can get at almost any grocery store now.

MY MOM'S RECIPE FOR ONE GLASS OF EGGNOG

This is what my mother used to make when we wanted eggnog, but I've modified it for us:

8 oz. of Lactaid (or other lactose-free milk)
1/4 teaspoon of vanilla flavoring
2 packets of Splenda
Sprinkling of cinnamon and/or nutmeg, in whatever combination you prefer.

Mix and enjoy.

EGGNOG MINUS THE EGGS

INGREDIENTS
1 (1 ounce) package sugar-free instant vanilla pudding mix
5 cups nonfat milk
1 packet Splenda
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon rum flavored extract

DIRECTIONS
In a large mixing bowl, mix together sugar free vanilla pudding mix, nonfat milk, sweetener, ground cinnamon, dash of nutmeg , and rum extract. Mix these very well with a wire whisk for at least 2 minutes. If this is too thick, add more milk and sweetener.

EGGNOG WITH EGGS

Egg nog is thick, delicious and packed with calories. At least, the store-bought versions usually are. But you can make a healthy, creamy eggnog with this easy recipe. (Be forewarned: It takes just minutes to prepare, but hours to refrigerate). Then take some time to sit back and enjoy this holiday treat during the sometimes-hectic season.

(Makes three 8-ounce servings)

Ingredients

1/2 cup egg substitute

2 cups skim milk

1/2 cup fat-free half-n-half

2 tbs sugar substitute

1 tsp vanilla

1/2 tsp nutmeg, cinnamon, or pumpkin spice

Alcoholic version: 2 tsp rum extract; or 2 tbs rum, brandy, or bourbon (or to taste)

Directions

Pour ingredients into a container, mixing until thickened.

Cover egg nog and allow to chill for at least 2 hours.

Serving Ideas

Top each glass of eggnog with a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg on top or add a dollop of fat-free, sugar-free whipped topping.
