Default Mashed Potatoes???

My surgon said that mashed potatoes were a good food to eat while on the soft part of the diet. I know mashed potatoes are high in carbs, has this been an issue with anyone? What are your oppinions on Mashed potatoes as a "first foods"?

I ate it during soft foods. I rarely eat them now. If I do it is about a TB and I rarely finish that much...it just feels 'funny' to me. My daughter is yelling for me to make her some right now,

I used them at first and only have them now if I am eating meat that is not moist enough - the mashed taters help everything go down

I was strictly told by my doc to stay away from starches of all kinds for at least 6 mos. This is coming from a person who LOVES potatoes. Besides, there are a lot of other low carb alternatives on the pureed diet. But if you docs says its alright then go for it. I wish my doc said so....shoot.!

If you do eat them, throw some powdered milk in there to add protein so you are at least getting some protein in when you eat the carbs.

I dumped on potatoes for the longest time. I can eat them now, but not too many..
