Post-surgery, are the following medications okay to still take:

Aleve - for headaches on occasion (not often, maybe 2-3 times a month). It's acetaminophen, aspirin and ibuprofen free. From their website re active ingredient: "ALEVE contains 200 mg of naproxen and 20 mg of sodium"

Zyrtec - for high-allergy days when my seasonal allergies hit. The active ingredient is 10mg of "cetirizine HCI"

Tums - for acid reflux, I take 1 a day, 4-5 times a week. It's a calcium carbonate.

Also, just wondering, I've seen some folks put "Lap RNY" in their signatures. Is that for a lap-band or for laparoscopic RNY?

Thanks!

For the whole entire month I’ve only lost 5 pounds in over a month! I have never exceeded 600 calories a day, I am active, and I follow the doctor’s diet to the dot.
Please respond if this has happened to you and tell me how you overcame this problem, kindly mention your starting weight and when the weight loss stopped and when did it start again.
Please DON’T respond to tell me that losing 30 pound in 6 weeks is great, the problem is two weeks after the surgery the weight loss stopped and for the whole entire month I lost 5 pounds …. I'm a 300 pound man on 600 calories a day and that doesn’t make sense.

I wouldn't feel as confident about having this surgery if a friend of mine hadn't told me about hers and her success. So it's kind of a catch 22.

What do you do?

For instance if you were going to have a hotdog and french fries (not the correct food choices, I know. I'm just trying to judge portion sizes against something I might eat now) at 4 months, would you be able to eat maybe a 1/4 of hot dog and 2 fries? And at 1 year - maybe 1/2 hotdog and 4 fries??? If you didn't know that I had this surgery and you saw me eating at about a year out, would you suspect something was up or would you just think I was eating like a healthy thin person?

Was anyone here banded? What do you think about it? I can't really google it too much right now because one of my kids broke my laptop while I was at work and I am on my iPod. My eyes are far too old to do any research on this thing.

I've heard people mention "dumping" on several occasions, but am at a loss to what, specifically, it is.

Is it the heart racing and sweats thing? Or is it an immediate need to race to the bathroom? A combination of all of these? What?

Also, how soon after eating something that causes you to dump, do you actually dump? For example, if I had the mini-chocolate bar that someone mentioned, should I hope there's a bathroom nearby, or would that be too far away?

Sorry if this is a weird question, but I'm trying to get all the info I can while I'm still in the planning process.

Thanks!

To compare, Miralax is sold in two 30 dose containers for 29.99 so you get 40 doses more for $5.00 less- what a bargain!
I didn't see them the last time I was there so I had already paid the 29.99 for the brand name, sadly! But next time I know!

Hi everyone,
I keep reading on here where people are discussing the best vitamins to take after surgery and prices and where to get them. Doesn't your surgeon/doctor prescribe high strength vitamins that you have to get through your pharmacy and are covered by your prescription plan (if you have one). I currently take folic acid which I get through prescription and I've been on vitamin D before which because of the high dosage I also got through prescription. I just assumed this would be the same.... Do we really just buy what we want over the counter?
I am just not sure what signs to look for that tell me I'm satisfied. I'm kind of scared that if I stop too early, I won't consume enough.
I eat really slow and tiny bites so I am not shoveling food in my mouth too fast.

My jaw gets tired. I loose interest in what is in my mouth and just want to swallow to get it over with. It doesnt mean I dont want to eat..no no no.it just means I want to chew something that isnt chewed up, i guess. Another fresh bite. I want to put it in my mouth, chew it a little and get another FRESH bite.

The NUT did say that if everyone did this....chewed their food like this, no one would need to diet. I guess we would get BORED with it and go take a walk instead?

So, anyone got any tips with this?

One in particular ignores it like nothing is different (maybe that is the point). I don't think I have met more than about a handful of these silent comment people, everyone else has been great, positive etc.... not that I am seeking it out, hell no! Just wonder what it is they are trying to say by not saying anything. Some of these people are not fat themselves and never been in my time knowing them. My relationship with them has changed one ioda either.

Anyone else get this sometimes and have it figured out what might be going on with these types ?
