I had bypass 8 years ago. I am 30. I never went to the doctor for any follow up. I just lost weight and moved on with my life and dealt with the changes as they happened. At my thinnest I was 155 and I am 5'11, but I also was taking a medication that once I quit taking immediately gained weight. I got up to 185 but during ttc I went on a low carb Atkins diet and lost 10 pounds over 6 months.

I seriously forgot- or didn't know- the 10 rules until coming here! I always drink with my meals! Plus I snack all day! If I am really hungry I avoid anything that might give me a block ? (that's what I call it) which is usually veggis or meat.

Well anyways I am almost 22 weeks pregnant and am very tired all the time. This is my first post op baby but I have 3 other children whom I home school so happily I am home all day. I just don't think I could work with my health as it is. The midwife checked some blood work and said my hemoglobin and hematocrit were low. Hgb was 10.9. Several years ago I was at the doc for unrelated reasons and they gave me iron infusions but I haven't been to the doc since and I really have no idea what my hgb was then.

I need advice about what labs to ask for, what I should do, and I am really nervous about needing a blood transfusion or being totally vegitative after the birth of my baby. Also I want baby to be OK. I feel so exausted and my moods get really bad sometimes and I somehow think it is nutritional. I am up to 190 now and really bumed because that is 15 pounds already!!!

So after finding this site and reading the rules I am going to try them. I also read about gentle iron from Walmart so I am going to pick that up today along with some organic beef liver from an amish guy around here. I take a high quality liquid vitamin but it doesn't have any iron in it. Also I just ordered some vit b12 patches that are supposed to be good for bypassers I found on line the other day.

I feel bad and am worried. Any advice? I have serious fear issues about gaining weight. I struggle every day with worry about it. I am not cured yet of this wacko food thing. Help!

I never in my life thought I would be wanting to gain weight. I am kind of worried. I am 10 weeks pregnant and have lost 8 lbs. Now I have suffered from some serious morning sickness in the past 2 months, and my OB did not seem to be concerned. But I am eating like 6-7 times a day and still not gaining any kind of weight. I am worried that my baby is not getting what it needs. I won't have another US until 20 weeks or unless they cannot find a heartbeat at my next appointment. When did you guys start gaining weight? How much weight did you gain first trimester? Should I be worried?

So I know that with this being number 4 they can start earlier but why am I getting them when I eat?

Today at lunch with every bite I swallowed I would feel my stomach tighten up and have cramps also. This went on the entire time I ate. Now I am sitting at work and I am still getting them off and on. I read that I shouldn't have more than 4 in an hour. Well I have had way more than 4. They don't last long but some of them are back to back.

I am wondering if this is some how related to GBS. I noticed them before when I ate too but not like this. I have 30 more min. at work and then I am going to go home and rest.

Hello ladies. :) I've been wondering about something recently, and I figured that those of you who have had babies (after WLS) could answer it.

I lost 123 lbs. My loose skin isn't too bad, but I do have a pannus (apron). It doesn't hang down too far...just to the top of a pair of bikini undies. I have some loose skin around the top of my belly as well.

As my baby bump starts getting larger, do you think it will "fill out" the loose skin? Or, will I still have that skin hanging underneath my baby bump?

I'm wondering about stretch marks too. With my son, I got horrible stretch marks...but I was skinny when I got pregnant, and then gained about 70 lbs during it. Since my skin is already stretched from my prior obesity, I'm wondering if the stretch marks will be any less this time around?

When the nurse came in to tell me the doctor got called away I asked if she could check Tristan's position. She felt around and she "thinks" he's head down but couldn't be 100% sure. It would explain the horrific pressure I'm having and the insane trouble walking.

I also got cleared for cross country / international travel and got a copy of my records. The only bad thing is that I think I have the flu now. Packing is not going to be easy.

She did say I would probably gain around 35 lbs. because I am so small. That is so hard to hear. I want baby to be healthy but I am really struggling with this weight gaining. For almost 2 yrs. I have been focused on losing and maintaining my weight. I am so scared that I will gain it and not get rid of it. Physically I feel fine but mentally I feel like I am going crazy. I am hungry all of the time and I can eat more now. What if I stretch out my pouch?

Well tomorrow I will be 7 weeks 5 days pregnant and I will be having my first OB appt. It is planning to be a long day with 1.5 hours dedicated to the NP and paperwork. Then off to the doctor. I have NO idea what to expect. I am hoping for a U/S or some sorta thing to hear the babies heartbeat. I have waited 15 years for this.. battling PCOS and obesity to get the test to even say pregnant.. so i am just hoping for healthy baby!! :)

Just thought i'd update ya on the situation. So far Morning sickness.. more like queeziness is mild. I do have phengran from wls that i have been cleared to use.. i have only used 1 or 2. I get lightheaded at times. Diet is crazy.. I want to eat eat eat sometimes, but the baby doesnt seem to like the healthy stuff. I tried cheese and some meats.. and its horrible. But yet a cupcake seems to soothe. My pouch and this baby do not agree!! :)

Well i hopefully will post some good results from tomorrows tests and stuff.
Hugs to all TT'ers!

So me and my BF were messing around last night, and when I told him I was on BC he got really happy...so in the heat of the moment, he didn't pull out, and we were not using a condom (I know...very bad on my part). My question is, if anyone may know, If I am on Depo but missed my last shot a couple of weeks ago, can I still get pregnant? I know it takes a while for all the BC to get out of your system which is why they say to stop taking it like 6 months before you want to get pregnant, but is it still possible? I am kind of in a panic right now. I mean believe me I really want a baby (main reason I had this surgery) but I am not even a year post-op so I don't want to put myself or the baby in jeopardy. Please give me some advice...thanks

Oh, I forgot the announcement....I'm pregnant! :D

I'm not very far along...just 5 1/2 weeks right now. We found out last week, and as can be imagined, I'm super excited! My only "baby" graduated high school this Spring, and he started college last month...how's that for an age gap?

I'm scared silly of having a miscarriage, especially since I fall into the Advanced Maternal Age category. Gosh, that term makes me feel old...like I need to buy a walker and some Depends. :p

So, the weight loss is on hold for the meantime...although I only had 1 to 3 lbs left until goal, depending on the day. It's funny, I've been so thrilled to finally be skinny, but now I'm anxiously awaiting a baby bump. :)

p.s. To anyone who is friends with me on Facebook, please don't mention this there...I still have quite a few family members who we haven't told yet, who are also Facebook friends.

Well...that post was almost 4 weeks ago. Life has been crazy since then, and I haven't been on TT much. 3 or 4 days after that post, my mom got rushed to the hospital my ambulance, and then was transferred to a larger hospital by helicopter. Needless to say, life has been crazy since then...with working full time, and then traveling to the hospital every evening, which was a 2 hour round trip drive. So, the last month has just flown by, even though it sometimes feels like it's been going on forever. On a positive note, she was recently transferred to a rehab facility, which is much closer to home...so things are starting to normalize a bit. (Mom had a Grand Mal seizure and a moderate stroke...she's starting to improve, but will be in the rehab facility for at least another 4 weeks.)

Anyway...I probably haven't been taking the best care of myself with everything going on with my mom. I definitely haven't been getting quite enough sleep at night, although I'm now taking a 25 minute nap everyday during my lunch break. (Cat naps are great!)

My morning sickness (really just severe queasiness with quite a few mad dashes to the bathroom) is pretty much gone. I've figured out that if I eat a heavier breakfast, I don't get sick. On that note, I'm eating like a pig...for me anyway, lol. I've only gained 1 lb so far though, so I guess the extra calories are being well used. I'm constantly hungry...like stomach growling hungry. I eat and 2 hours later, my stomach is rumbling.

My jeans are getting tight..even though I've only gained 1 lb. At only 9 1/2 weeks, I think it's more bloat than baby though, lol.

Hmmm, other than that it's just the normal pregnancy stuff....my boobs are KILLING me and I think I'll end up resembling Dolly Parton by the end of the 9 months, lol. I'm dog tired...a result of both the pregnancy, and running myself ragged visiting the hospital. I can't remember the last time I exercised, with everything going on with my mom. Does running to the bathroom multiple times a day count as exercise?

Oh, and it's no longer a "secret". Even though we had planned on NOT telling family/friends/co-workers until after 12 weeks, those plans went out the window.

Here's my ultrasound pics that were done 2 weeks ago, so I'm sure the baby looks like more than a kidney bean by this point, ha ha. I got to see and hear the heartbeat, which was so awesome. I'm scheduled to go in for a 1st trimester screening (nuchal ultrasound and a ton of bloodwork) in about 2 1/2 weeks.
