Hello, I had GBS 7/16/10 and I am having a difficult time eating. Soft foods (cottage cheese, yogurt, babyfood) I can tolerate however meats, chili's, eggs most times give me a problem. I am chewing thoroughly to mush, but they still get stuck and I vomit them back up. Sometimes I can continue after vomiting and get a bit more down other times I am done!!!!

Protein drinks are fine and I make smoothies often using greek yogurt. My question is on my list from my nutritionist it states I can have cream of wheat. I am a bit torn whether or not to have it due to the carbs, although it is soft and would probably go down smoothly. I am not eating enough calories, each day I am lucky if I get 500 - 600 calories. I usually manage to get in most of my protein between my shakes and the yogurt and cottage cheese.

Not sure if the cream of wheat and or oatmeal is o.k. or should I stay away? Thank you for all and any advice.

I had my surgery about two weeks ago, I'm feeling wonderful and so happy that I did it. I told only a handful of people about it. I wasn't planning on telling many people. Not that I'm ashamed or anything, I just don't want a big sign around my neck saying "Ask me about my gastric bypass" and have people constantly watching every single thing I put in my mouth. Anyway, my mother came down to take care of my kids when I had surgery and had to explain to my grandmother why she was going to be away. She takes care of things for her and she would worry if she didn't know where she was. That was fine with me, I understood. So... my grandmother calls me yesterday just to let me know, that she let everyone know that I wouldn't be coming up this year for the family Labor Day lunch, because I had gastric bypass surgery and couldn't eat. But that I'd probably come up for Thanksgiving and not to worry if I wasn't eating much, it's not that I don't like their food, I just can't have it. Thanks Grandma!!! I guess I don't have to come up with an excuse for how I lost the weight now, lol.

I was in a stall for three weeks. Now, I seem to be back to losing a pound or two a week. I'm filled with gratitude today for ongoing progress, increased strength, and just feeling healthy over all.

Now, off to have a fabulous day with my kiddies. We can finally get outside and really play without me losing steam in minutes.

Today I had a surprise birthday BBQ for my hubby. I made potato salad, pasta salad, bought chips, BBQ beef ribs, watermelon, BBQ chicken thighs.

Before surgery I could make a potato salad, use half a dozen potatos and eat that all on my own... of course not at once but I definitely would enjoy the heck out of it. Pasta salad? Forget about it, the noodles were still steaming hot from coming out of the pot when I dug in. The chips, were my favorite.

I passed all of it up and had a bbq chicken thigh that I scraped the skin off of and some watermelon :) I know it's not much but I am so incredibly proud of myself that I didn't even "test the waters" to see how my pouch would handle it. When I tested the noodles to see if it was ready, I just spit it back out (I don't know any other way to test doneness)

As a little reward, I went to the pool with my friend and took a little dip. I feel good knowing I scoffed in the face of temptation and won, when I used to scoff in it's face and say "ok fine".

I can't figure out how to switch phone calls without hanging up on one person. It keeps pushing buttons and hanging up on people as I talk to them.... and it is set up for a right hander to us and is difficult for a left hander to us.

How are you guys doing with it??

Any advise?

Does anyone have the Droid X? What do you think of it?

Is there a Verizon phone that does all of the same functions as the doid that you like better? I really need all the function for my job. In other words I need a phone that does it all. And it wouldn't be easy to switch over to the Iphone.

I love Thrift Store shopping!!! The fact that I'm in size 16 is also pretty darned amazing considering that I was a size 44 pants and XXX in tops. With the weather changing I really needed some long pants. I've been in capris since May! It feels funny to be wearing pants to my ankles! lol :)

1 lb 97% ground lean beef, cooked with half of an onion chopped, minced garlic, salt & pepper
2 cans of dark red kidney beans (drained)
2 cans of butter beans (drained)
2 large cans of baked beans
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup mustard
1 cap-full of vinegar
2 T of Splenda brown sugar

Mix all ingredients in an over-safe bowl, cover and bake at 375 for 1 hour.

I hope it's a hit at the potluck I'm going to today. It's low fat chalk full of protein so I have a feeling it might be the only thing I eat there :)

For the last week I have not been happy with the way my shirts were fitting me and since most of them are cotton I decided to make them smaller. I am working really hard to lose the weight you may call me conceited but I wanted to show. I decided to wash my shirts in hot water and dry them until they shrank. There is just one problem they also got shorter which means that you can see the protuberance that is my stomach. I guess I should have realized that shirts don’t shrink whichever way I wanted, so I stretched them longwise and iron them (I hate ironing). They don’t look that bad and now I feel it show that I lost the 21 pounds I work so hard for.
