I have my consult with my surgeon on Jan 18 and will probably go with what he recomends but I prefer the sleeve.
What made you choose the sleeve over RNY? Was it a personal choice or Doctors?

I'm one of those people with several nurses in her family and therefore has been privvy to all sorts of hospital horror stories. In planning out my wls, its looking like I'm gonna have to spend my hospital stay alone. (I always arrange for someone to stay with me usually.) I'm not a super needy person, just want myself covered when most vulnerable.

Can those who've had the sleeve and done the several days post op tell me if they had someone in the hospital with them or not and how it went?

Thanks guys.

Well if you've been keeping up with me, I got the call from the hospital this morning (Friday) to see if I was feeling ok.

I explained that I was fine, but made him (AJ the registrar) aware that what I'm currently feeling is pretty much my normal condition, and that I do have some inflamation in my nostrials (normal for me), and that I do generally have a permenant head cold. AJ acknowledged that the records point to the nasal issues. He asked whether I had an wheezing from my asthma - NO! I asked him if he was looking for a reason to cancell my surgery, he said no, he wants me to have the surgery so that I can smile. OK, so he remembers me then, because he mentioned that I needed to smile the only time we met on the 10th July. Anyway, I said to him, if all is not well surely you'll pick up on that when I'm admitted.

Hey, it's worth a go. So to all you great people that have been following my epic journey thus far....hold tight. To you guys who have been my inspiration, support and sponge of knowledge, I thank you. All that's left is for me to pray that the father holds me close and keeps me safe on this next leg of the journey.

Hello to all. I'm guessing if this thread peeks your interest then you are a sufferer of PCOS. I have been diagnosed with PCOS for around 20 years, but have never had any advice or assistance on how or if anything can be done to help the condition, apart from lose weight of course. PCOS can create havoc in your life - and manifest itself in so many different ways. You may have one, two or many more of the effects of it. For the past couple of years I have been trying to find out the cause of my hair thinning (male pattern baldness) - only recently discovered that PCOS is normally responsible for hair loss. So having WLS surgery, you know you're going to lose hair - but it should grow back right, but with PCOS is this likely to be the case - scary. I have excessive facial hair growth - recently having laser hair removal - 3 more sessions to go.

Anyway I thought it was a good idea to start this thread - where by PCOS suffers can add any infor, advice or treatments which might help with the condition. I recently found a site called Power over PCOS. Some wonder facts that I will start sharing here. Please join in if you feel you can make a productive contribution or you just want to have a say about PCOS related issues.

Did you know that your diet can have an effect on your hormones, what you eat can have a direct influence on how balanced or unbalanced your hormones are.

So I'll start with: Spearmint Tea

Recent research has shown that spearmint tea can help reduce the effects of testosterone in the body, reducing symptoms such as acne, excess hair and hair loss.
