When do you work out?
Hubby and I have been having a discussion this week over when to work out.
I personally go to the gym in the morning for a little wake up (tread mill or bike for 30 minutes). Then after work I go for my major sweat a river gasp for breath work out.
Hubby says I need to do the big thing in the morning as I will burn the cals better all day. My only problem is that I am soooooo wicked tired after my work out I could not stay awake at work. Of course he points out that that is another "weird" point for me.
I am perfectly happy with my loss and yes, it may be less than some (average 3lbs a week) its better than I have ever seen before.
Does it really matter when I work out? Or is it just that I work out?

I think you're doing it great.. getting some in during the morning hours is great and then really kicking some ass after work so you can just veg after it's over. You've got the right attitude about it.

There is an optimal time for working out apparently, for sports men and women anyway: The Best Time to Train - Morning vs Evening Exercise - Exercise and Time of Day
I honestly think that the best time to work out is when it suits you and I applaud you for doing it full stop!

I too find it easier to split up and do two mini-sessions instead of one long one. I can manage half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the afternoon but trying to plan a full hour at a stretch would be difficult time-wise.
Doing it when it is easier for you to do has got to be better than trying to force yourself to do it when it will be difficult or inconvenient. After all, just getting it done matters more. If I knew after work I had a full hour to do, I might be too discouraged to go at all. But half an hour doesn't seem too daunting.
Not like I'm in training to be a world class athelete.

i'm hoping that once the baby gets onto a bit more regular schedule, that i'll be able to be a morning exerciser. i really need to make it a habit for myself, and i know from my own experiences that it is way too easy to have something come up, or just not feel like it, in the afternoon.
that being said, i think that if you are exercising at all that's what matters! time schmime!

i go around 3 in the afternoon when my daughter gets home from school. for me it works #1 because we go together. #2 because it usually deters the mid-afternoon tiredness that i usually get. #3 because it mostly inspires me to make the best dinner choices. who wants to sweat their ass off for an hour and them come home and eat crap? lol
in the past year and a half since my surgery i have tried all types of gym schedules and this one works the best for me...

I am way too tired in the morning to go, I used to but I really haven't felt like doing it in so long.
I exercise at lunch for as much as I can and then after work. Working out in the morning is great because you get it out of the way. I felt really energized after I worked out but would crash at 10am.
I like going mid-day because it is a bit of a compromise. I wear a Bodybugg and it shows me how many calories I burned and when I was burning them and I can say that there is a bit of an overall bump when I go earlier in the day vs. later at night.

Mornings at 6:00am
I'm a morning "worker outer". My only reliable time. Cardio some days. Weight training on others. Home gym tho.... very nice to have.
No telling when I get home....
I think it doesn't matter, so long as you do it. Whatever suits you.
I mean what does it matter if you burn calories all day after your morning workout or all night after your evening workout? Calories are till being burned regardless, and your two-a-day is wonderful if you can keep it up over time.

I am a morning person as well. After I get home in the afternoon I want to be left alone. Our YMCA opens at 5 am and I go to work at 6. I have the pool pretty much to myself for 30 minutes of laps.
In the afternoon I have a dog that likes to go for walks. So that makes my exercise for the day.
