Default September Running/Walking Goals - TT Road Runners

I figured I would start off with some goals for September. I hope you will post your goals and accomplishments here too.

Currently I am running 3 miles a day, usually about 3 - 4 times per week. So my goal for September is to increase that to 3.5 miles x 4 days a week, which equals 56 miles for the month. That is completely do-able I believe. Also, since the weather is getting cooler, my pace is getting faster (yay!!). Right now, by personal best was 3.1 miles in 31:34. I would love to get that down some more, but for right now, I am going to shoot for at least that pace everytime I run.

Here are my actuals for the month:

9/1 3.1 31:34
9/2 3.1 31:52
9/3 elliptical 45min (2.5mi)
9/4 off
9/5 nada
9/6 zip
9/7 zero!
9/8 3.1 32min
9/9 3.1 31:19
9/10 off
9/11 4.01 43:12
9/12 Nothing
9/13 Nada
9/14 3.1 31:44
9/15 4.05 ??don't know time...forgot to hit start on my watch
Halfway through the month...I've done 26.06 miles so far...need to step it up to reach my goal of 56 miles!!
9/16 45min elliptical (2.5mi)
9/17 4.01 42:19
9/18 off
9/19 zip
9/20 zilch
9/21 3.1 32:14
9/22 4.05 45:13 (It was hot out there!)
9/23 3.05 33:39 (again, very hot!)
9/24 4.01 >45 min (forgot to hit start again on my watch and it was hot, Hot, HOT!!)
9/25 rest!!
9/26 walked 1 mile (with my daughter), Ran 3 miles
9/27 rest
9/28 hubby in the hospital...no workout today
9/29 3.1 miles in 32 min
9/30 1.2miles in 12 min

So, how about you? What are your goals/accomplishments?

Since I'm still early out, my goal is to walk 2 miles, 3 days a week. The more detailed plan is for my family (wife and 2 kids) to walk to a park about 1 mile from the house that has a basketball court and some old playground equipment. So, walk there, play for awhile, then walk back.

Doing that in the evening has been difficult as I don't get off until 6 and home around 6:30. If you factor in the 1-2 hours of walking, doesn't leave much time. My wife is in agreement to do it. It is family time that we can all spend together.

We just cleaned out a bedroom in the house (put both boys in bunk beds in one room), so my next agenda is to reassemble my weight set in there.

I'm hoping to get into a good routine of 3 days walking/cardio, and 2-3 days weights a week. I have to be careful with the weights. The doc ok'ed it, but said not to push myself too hard.

EDIT: I just saw that you hit goal the other day - CONGRATULATIONS!

That's great! Walking is great exercise and if you can make it a priority, then you can make it a habit! Sounds like you've got a plan and you will succeed! I started out by walking and I lost the majority of my weight just by walking. You're going to do great!

Default Slowly but surely

I'm running only twice a week, 2 miles at a time with weight training after each run. I also attend a karate class once a week. My goal is to cycle to work on the days I don't run but Plymouth is way to hilly at the moment

Hey Pete,

That's great! I looked at your profile and it looks like you are only a couple months out from surgery. I can't believe you are running already, but that is great! How's it going so far? Keep us posted.

WOW..2 miles pre surgery I couldn't have imagined running at all pre-surgery...you are doing great! I'm sure it is getting easier now that you've dropped some weight. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks! That's one hang-up I had to get over...Cause I used to feel self-consious about myself when I first started running...but then I got over it and realized that I'm doing this for myself and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about how I look

Keep up the great work!

OK, My goals for September kind of took a slight "turn." I was going to try and jog(run) a 1/2 marathon last weekend. My knee started "locking up" after 10 miles. After a lengthy discussion with my orthopedic guy, we both decided that I needed to do some physical therapy to strengthen my quads and put off running a 1/2 till next Spring. So- I am still shooting at running 6-10 miles 5-6 days a week, just going to work on some more strength training in between.
Since I didn't do the 1/2 marathon, I played in a 2 day golf tournament)I know, not running)- and my partner and I finished 3rd-(not bad for someone who doesnt even "like" golf. )
I have been pretty good at running at least 5 days all month- Here is my progress.. Keep Chugging along people- For me, getting dressed and actually leaving the house is the hardest part of my run; I am always happy afterward that I did it.
September
1- 6 miles
2- 8 mi
3- 6 mi
4-
5- 10 mi
6- 11. mi
7-
8- 8 mi
9- 8 mi
10- 6 mi
11-
12-10 mi
13 6mi
14- 8mi
15-
16- 6 mi
17- 6 mi
18-
