Question Lost my mojo...

I'm at week 7 post surgury. I started going to the gym at week 2. My doctor wants me doing 30 minutes of aerobic exercise every day. I had built up to 1 hour (30 minutes on the tredmill and 30 on the bike) burning 300 calories. I was doing 6 days a week and feeling great. About a week ago I just lost it. I've been tired, headaches and can hardly do 30 minutes without feeling exhausted. It wasn't gradual, it hit immediate. Anyone ever experience this? I'm still going to the gym and pushing through it in the hopes that I'll get back on track. This past week I only lost 2 lbs which was a disappointment as I had been lossing 5-6 lbs a week.

could you be ill? A cold, or some kind of infection?

How many calories are you eating a day? You need to be taking in a certain amount in order to be able to burn off that much and still have energy. How much protein are you getting? Are you taking your vitamins?

May be you need a break. Rest days are actually good for us. Make sure you get enough protein to exercise.

May be you need a change of scenery - I like to do different things, I get bored doing same exercise every day.

I'm not sick. Feel fine other than tired. I'm doing between 70 and 100 grams of protein a day. 90% from protein shakes. I'm still only allowed three 1 oz "meals" (pureed protein foods). I keep up with the vitamins and liquids to keep hydrated. The protein shakes are 90 calories per scoop. I'm taking in about 500 calories a day I think. I was able to reach my nutritionist and she had me start on iron supplements. My surgeon is on vacation but typically he has patients start on iron supplements at 6 weeks. She said based on how I was feeling and what I'm consuming, she thinks its an iron deficiency. Hopefully, that will help. Thanks for your comments

500 calories is not really a lot when you're exercising for an hour a day. You may need to eat more. I know your doctor said one ounce three times a day, but that's not much at all.

Thanks, Kelly. The protein I'm using is 90 cal for 23 grams of protein. My doctor wants me to stop drinking 30 before eating, take 20 minutes to eat, and wait 60 minutes after eating to start drinking again! I have a hard time getting in three 1 oz meals on that schedule and the protein! I'm not awake long enough to get in much more! I see my doctor in another week. We're going to have to have a talk about this.

The doctor wants me to do 110 grams of protein a day. I am only allowed 3 1-oz "meals" at most in addition to the protein drinks. The food provides only about 7 to 14 grams of protein (most days I only do 1 or 2 of these "meals"). I typically get in between 70 to 100 grams of protein a day mostly via drinks. I'm not hungry but often feel bloated from all the protein drinks. I switched from a "creaming" protein drink to a "juice like" one to help relieve the bloated feeling. Some days, I'd like to just be able to drink plain water and have nothing else.

wow..thats alot of protein...how is your weight loss? may I ask how tall you are and what your age is?

I gotta say I get in per doctor 65 grams protein a day mostly through food and 900 calories a day and that is a struggle for me I can imagine more protein than that as protein is what fills u up.
