I'm not necessarily out of shape, but I have had poor endurance since I was a kid. I am fairly active now, I walk a good amount in my daily life and I walk fast (usually faster than everybody in a crowd). I take the stairs up to the 4th floor of my home everyday. I run around the basketball court and shoot baskets once or twice a month. I'm looking to get on a better regimen of exercise. I can feel my body aching more than it used to after exerting a lot of energy (like after moving furniture, playing basketball for an hour, etc.). I also notice that my posture has gotten worse and my back and neck ache occasionally and I sometimes have a difficult time sleeping soundly without trying to get comfortable. I have never really exercised for the sake of exercising. I played sports when I was young but not much as an young, aside from shooting hoops. I don't play on teams because my endurance isn't good enough.
OK, so that said, I want to do something to get myself in better shape and increase my endurance, and, I want to build my upper body up just a little.
What would you all suggest? Should I begin jogging since I already walk a lot? I live in a city, so biking kind of sucks because I hate riding on the street, but there are some parks. Should I bike? I'm not much of a swimmer. I also assume some simple weights could help me build my upper body, but I wonder what size weights I should start with and what exercises I should try to build a regimen with.
Any suggestions are much appreciated!
