I agree. Not a plateau. Now I just lost my first pound in two months (and I'm only eight months out!) Now that's a plateau. I'm not worried, though. I'm still down 75 pounds from my four week pre-op diet. I lost quickly early on but, I'm feeling strong and enjoying exercise. My vitamin levels are good and I think I've really adjusted to my new normal. I'm sure my last 25 pounds will come off in time.

I just talked to someone at church the other day. She is more than two years out and still losing. She looked great. It was a great encouragement to me. Just keep doing what you know to do and it will come off. I feel so thankful I have my "tool" to help me along.

I'm in a size 16 and some 18s depending on the brand. I have a pair of size 14s I can get into too. I'm trying to focus on how I feel and look, only if I could get the number on the scale out my mind. It's all a numbers game for me--how much I weigh, what size I wear . . . I feel so bad because I should be so happy I've lost 90 lbs and went from a size 24 or 26 to the size I am now.
Don't feel bad about your mom's comment. She just means you are looking skinny from where you were. The people in our life have to get used to the new us. It's an adjustment for them, too. I've had a lot of people telling me this summer how I'm just getting skinnier and skinnier and I know I haven't lost a pound since May! (until this morning...) I think they are just getting used to me looking so different. They mean to be encouraging.

Of course, not everyone in our lives may take it well. I think some people I know are happy for me but, my weight loss seems to bring out other feelings for them, frustrations with their own weight. I wish people wouldn't take my effort to get healthy as a discouragement about themselves. People make a lot of comments about their own weight to me. I really feel for them. I've been there and know the frustration.

I try not to get so offensive. A co-worker commented that I was half the size I used to be (not correct) and immediately my mind shot to "well how big did you think I was before???" I'm working on accepting the compliments as is. It's rough. My image of myself is so distorted, sadly. Guess my mind has to catch up as well.

I think the comments from others can mess with your mind a bit! I just try to take them with a sense of humor. People mostly mean well but, do say stupid things sometimes. They often don't know what to say! I think the most difficult thing for me has been the few people I didn't see for a number of months who didn't even RECOGNIZE me! That's a little crazy. You begin to question a bit..."well who am I?".

I think the real key is to know our value and uniqueness as individuals at any weight. I know we are each precious and made in the image of God. No number on the scale changes that. My worth comes from being His creation, fat, skinny, or anywhere in between.

This news of others going thru a plateau has really made my day! I've been so down and out and discouraged on my lack of weight loss. I got down to 214 and was ecstatic. This morning, I'm back up to 219. We need to start a group just for those in a Plateau or Slow Weight Loss!
