Did my first water aerobics class!
I did my first water aerobics class this morning. It was pretty fun. I was able to do the whole hour. I'd been worried I'd get too worn out. And I've lost enough weight that I even felt OK in a bathing suit. The only downside is that the class is at 9:00 in the morning, so I have to get up a little earlier than I like. But it was pretty good.

That sounds awesome! I wish I had time for that. We don't live close enough to a pool that offers classes. We have a 24 hour gym in town that I go to (it is teeny), and that's the best I can do!
I do LOVE swimming though...
GOOD FOR YOU for making it thru the whole class!

I also do water aerobics, I love it. The city offers it for residence at our local high school. I live 2 mins away.
My classes are at 5:15am, I go in before work.
I also was afraid to wear a suit and then I said hell time to quit being afraid of things and get on the workout train.
Love it!!

I'm starting water aerobics next week...I used to go about 10 years ago, and really liked it then.
I'm still debating on whether to take the shallow end class (water to chest or so), or the deep end class (wear a belt to make you float in water). I'm not sure if the deep end class will be too hard for me.
I was happy to finally find classes in the evening.

The deep end class sounds like fun, actually. They don't have that at the Y where I go.

I have this odd fear of tipping over and floating upside down. Yeah...I told you it was an odd fear, lol.
I'm thinking I might go to the deep end class tomorrow night if I can, just to try it out. If it kicks my ass too hard, I'll know to sign up for the shallow end class instead.
Speaking of bathing suits ladies....I got an awesome tankini set that has nylon shorts with a bikini bottom sewn inside ($35 at Kmart). It covers up the sharpei skin at the top of my inner thighs.
Just wondering...do I need water shoes for the class, or will I be okay in bare feet?

I did the class today in bare feet. There were about 12 people in the class, and two or three of them had shoes on. So I think it's a matter of personal preference. It seems like especially if you do the deep end class, you wouldn't need shoes.

Wow! The water classes seem very popular at my gym...the parking lot is incredibly crowded when that class is being held...I'm a chicken chit...no bathing suit for this girl!

I used to teach water aerobics. One of my favorite jobs ever.
Sherry...be careful with the deep water exercise. Make sure they don't do anything that puts stress on your knees. If the instructor doesn't know what they are doing they can cause you serious knee injuries. If you get someone that has been trained correctly it will give you a totally different (and safe) workout from the shallow water aerobics.

Thanks for that advice. I've been having some problems with my hip, and I have a partially torn ACL in my knee (from several years ago). With that in mind, I think I'll forget about the deep water and just do the shallow end.
