Default Exercise after WLS????

I'm just wondering what types of exercise, how long after, how vigorous (or not haha), or how often can you exercise after WLS.

Also, are there any women who have had WLS and attend Curves as part of their exercise program? If so, what was your experience with that?

Have you gotten full clearance to do weight training and cardio?

I haven't had surgery yet. Those questions are on my list of things to ask.

I was just wondering what other peoples' experiences were with exercise after surgery. =)

I started walking as soon as I got home - about 10-15 minutes at first, in an attempt to eliminate all that gas!!!!!!

At 6 weeks, I upped it to 30 minutes at a time. Now I walk about 45-60 minutes every day - walking my new doggie.

You will find that a lot of people on here do real head-banger exercises! I don't because I have arthritis, I am old, I have osteoporosis, I am tired, you name it, I have an excuse.

Oh I see. Because I like yoga and working out at curves. But it's a lot of stretching and crunching and etc and with a lapband port I don't know how "safe" that is. I guess those are questions I should specifically ask the surgeon.
=)

I have had lapband for almost a month. The night I stayed in the hospital I was doing laps around the hospital ( I was restless and my butt hurt from sitting in that bed forever) I was ok to walk as soon as I got home nothing crazy just a little walking and after about 2 weeks I was ok'd to do anything strenuous. I've gone to the gym twice this week and did a 2mile walk last night. I feel ok. Just double check with your doctor tho. I'm finding out that as I love my dr. his methods are wayy different from a lot I've seen on this board

Ps. I can't wait to do yoga!

Lots of Love
Courtney

I was told to start walking right after the surgery. I was doing laps around the hospital unit the same day. When I went home I was told that I should work up to 30 minutes of walking per day by 30 days after the surgery. I wasn't supposed to do anything more strenuous than walking for six weeks, then I could do any type of exercise I wanted. I don't know why you couldn't do yoga with a lap band, but I guess you should ask your doctor to make sure.
