Default Calorie Deficit vs Intake 10 wks out

Okay...so I'm feeling really good lately and soo enjoying my walking. The past couple of days I walking 3 miles in about 40 minutes, about 4-5 mls an hours. My calorie intake is usually about 800 cals a day (some days 700) and thedailyplate says the calories I'm burning are abour 615 (somewhere around there). Which doesn't leave me with many net calories. I am getting at least the min 55g protein per day. My intake should be between 55 and 70. Am I doomed for exhaustion if I keep this up. I really enjoy the walking and really enjoy the fact that I'm not huffing and puffing anymore, can walk really fast, and my legs aren't jello. Its so wonderful. I was thinking of another 2 miles in the morning...

What yall think?

First of all.. way to go!! i dont walk that fast.. ever!! LOL so great job.

I think you totally need to up your protein. Consider a protein drink after your workouts. Its been proven ingesting protein 30 minutes after your work out helps build and repair your muscles faster. I did that.. lost weight madly! Plus i always felt great. I think more around 1100 cals would be best.. ofcourse thats making sure your eating the right stuffs. But adding a shake would add about 200-250 cals depending on if you use milk/ water or premixed.. which i do not suggest the water or premixed.. ewwy.

I take in about 900-1100 cals daily, 100 grams protien.. unfortunately i dont workout anymore cuz i work retail and my feet kill me.. as well as my body. But i do walk 5 miles a day at work.. so it is helping the weight keep coming off.
Good luck!

Thanks Heather, Yeah I thought I may have to up the protein. I'm struggling to get in the cal's and protein that I am getting now. I'll see if I can find a protein drink that I can tolerate to help out. Everything I eat is really healthy...if it wasn't for chicken I wouldn't eat at all, lol. Basically it's chicken, fruits, veggies, and yogurt now that seem to be my comfort food lately.

Congrats on your 5 miles a day!! Wow!! Isn't it wonderful that we can walk that much now!!

Well I did my 2 extra miles this morning, half of it was actually jogging. Wow...totally amazing. I managed to drink a 8 oz of milk with some vanilla protein mixed in. 34 extra grams of protein and about 230 cal added to my day from the shake. I plan on continuing my 3 miles this afternoon. Still makes my net calories in the negative for the day...but I think I'll be fine!

no negatives!! LOL You gotta consume more than your burning. Remember, your daily life burns cals too. As you can see with the daily plate it takes that into consideration. If your body doesnt have enough cals, you wont lose weight. you go in starvation mode. I do very well if i have 500 net cals by the end of the day. I lost nice weight with that.. some with 300 net, but did better with 500. So you need to get more cals in!! great job with the protein. I know its hard when your not used to it. Keep it up.. but defiinately get more cals in! maybe do a shake after your next workout too. That may help.

Okay, so I adjusted my meal plan for the day and if I can eat it all, I added another protein drink, some extra calories and protein. Comes out to about 350 net calories and 121g of protein. That is a new record for me...I've never...ever been able to eat that many calories and grams of protein. We will see. Thanks!

I'm obsessed, lol. I'd love to walk even more, but already having enough trouble eating enough to keep up with the cal's I'm burning, lol.

I too do a protein shake...but I do mine before I work out (cause I eat lunch or dinner right afterward normally). It will really help with energy levels and making sure your body has the protein it needs (especially when you work out).
